Adding design to a mirror is not done to the front of the mirror, insted it is done to the back. This video shows how to safely remove the paint backing from the mirror without scratching the mirroring.

I tried Citristrip on two mirror backs. After letting it sit for 24 hours, there was no effect. The Citristrip I used did not say METAL STRIPPER on, but I think that I had the only product they make. After using four other products and having no luck, I found a product called Multi Strip at Home Depot which worked quite well. I did like this video's recommendation for a squeegee, using only distilled water, and microfiber paper towels. Having an education in chemistry and a pretty sharp brain, I can't imagine that rolling on a product in one direction only makes any kind of difference. There is no heat inherent in any of these products. Any heat comes from the chemical reaction. I couldn't find the paper towels, so I'm using cotton balls. Citristrip has Satisfaction Guaranteed on it's label, and I've got my receipt. Maybe it works well on other substrates, but not on mirrors. Good luck with yours, folks.

I accidentally got some of that stuff from the back of the mirror in my ear, will it do something to my hearing? I can hear ringing noises now

Hi, I realize this is an older video but I'm hoping I can get a quick reply. I need a two way mirror to create a smart mirror with a TV behind it. Will stripping the back paint allow the TV to push an image through the silvering?

You can buy Citra strip at any Home depot. What do you do with the backing paint ? It 's got LEAD in it

Is rubbing some of that stuff from the back of the mirror in your eyes bad? I cant open my left eye and i could barely open my right one

I got some mirror from a glass supplier and used Goof off paint stripper to remove the backing.... it did NADA!! Any idea on why my mirror backing would not budge with stripper? thanks!

Can you post the stripper you used? I cant find “metal stripper” and the regular citrus stripper isnt working-

Is tasting the stuff on the backside bad?? It left a bitter taste in my mouth and its kinda burning now...

what about the mercury that old mirrors have on the back? where you recycle it ? EPA would like to know your address for sure

Is breathing in the back of the mirror while scratchin it with a razor hazardous to your health cause it left a weird perfume like smell in my nose
