Sales tip: always use odd numbers. Pricing items just under a whole number, such as at $1995 instead of $2000, makes the price seem like a bargain. Customers tend to focus only on the first number and perceive the price to be closer to, in this case, $1000 rather than to $2000. In broader terms, odd pricing suggests a bargain versus even pricing, which encourages buying.

Ultimate Event Lighting I know it’s a really extended thing to do by supermarkets and so, but I don’t really believe this works, cos I would compare that price or speak about it as a ‘2k’ package

@@19Jose91 same here if you have people rounding down you could have issues the day of an they are short if it’s 2k it’s 2k you don’t want the mentality of oh 1k an end up in small claims ya know

One other sales tactic: Put your largest package at the top. It will make your lowest one look more like a bargain and it encourages people to go more expensive.

Great explanation DJ Bar!!! With my packages and I run into venues with uprights, I use the analogy to my clients that if they would order a Hamburger at McDonald's and wanted no onions, they don't reduce the price. They still have to pay full price for their burger. 90-95% of the times my clients totally understand.

I think you have to change and adapt to the times. My prices and a ton of others are super transparent. Its a flat package and what's included is what it is. People don't want to go through the hassle of calling up or emailing a DJ, asking the price they are quoted for such and such, wouldn't it be easier if you just built an easily viewable pricing a la cart or package and posted it?

If you have certain extras, say 7 extras, what about giving them a choice of 3 or 4. You could package it based on how many extras they get. This helps solve the problem of venues not allowing certain things. You could tell a client that the venue doesn't allow that but they can choose something else. For high ticket extras you could always leave out choices like the photo booth.

In my opinion, you atract the kind of clients by your promo. Somebody belive in super fancy DJ booth, like Piano, someother belive in lights, and they promote that in their video/pdotos. So thats atract the kind of clienta that like that, or belive in that to. Looking on few vlogs and promos, i see that most of DJs point everything on theirs stuff/gear. They show packed spot, crazy dances and energy. Belive or not, but not all of clients care of your gear, care yours super special DJ booth. Its all about the party, entertaiment, and there ia many ways to achieve that. Some couples looking for ready packed solutions, but you can talk with them and explain detailed some important aspects of every single service you offer. So if you have a biggar set of lights to offer them, try to explain the importance of that, why should they consider, what they will get with that, and is a big chance that they will accept it. If client is not interested in details, they only ask for price, think once - is that your clinet? , is that what you want to serve?

Great videos bro, im from the UK and have been watching you for a long time now . I am always envy on how much you guys charge for discos . on average around the uk for 5 hrs people charge from £300 / to £650 sound , lights, dj. unfortunately people dont want to pay any more for disco's and they still try and barter you down on price :-/ . I'm also a club and radio dj and work for universal records street team . But customers still want cheap cheap 🤬 haha. Keep up the good work bro

You could still do discounted pricing packages, just list those services that may not be allowed anyway as free. This way, there’s no having to go back and make adjustments. Just keep all other prices at normal a la carte pricing. Kinda like a ‘book this package and we’ll provide the Dancing on a Cloud and/or Cold Sparklers for free at no charge. These are services that you know may not be allowed at some venues. Just a thought.
@deejaysk6207

I know this is a bit late, but we have the same issue with venues telling us we can or can not do certain effects. To solve that problem with the packages we do like you do but instead of getting everything we allow them for pick from a list of extras up to a certain number. Example. Dj package for 3200 (the last you mentioned) Pick 4 items from our extras list. Cloud, pb, spaklers, up lights etc. This makes it easier for them and let’s them feel empowered that they got to pick their extras they want and not stuff they don’t want. Hope this helps.

@doctormasterdevil
@doctormasterdevil 3 жыл бұрын
@Scott Geoffrey total guests gives you a couple of things. 1. The more guests means that they can afford a large venue 2. The more guests means they can afford to feed that many 3. The more guests means you can charge more by saying you will need a larger system, even if you still use your normal system 4. The more guests gives you an idea of how their budget looks.

Allan Berg had an interesting idea for single ops: don't offer packages or a la carte. Charge per event. Gear that you don't bring, isn't making you money. So like a Vegas buffet, you pay one large price, and you get all the goodies and gadgets that the DJ has to offer. (Or what the DJ seems good for that venue/space)

In the DC /MD/VA area. 70% of my clients will choose the middle tier package. Which for us, it's 6 hours all inclusive of sound for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Arrival 2 hours before start time for load in, and includes a light effects show. The first package is just the sound system/4 hours, and everything is a la carte. If they add a ceremony sound system, and more than 1 hour of time, it makes sense financially just to book the middle tier package. Our biggest package only get's booked on 1, maybe 2 weddings a year, and includes totems, moving heads, and full room up lighting (24+ lights) with a 2 person team on the event. No photo booth, here. Too much hassle to ever bother with it. No TVs...my clients aren't into that, and it's not popular in the DC region. Tried dancing on the clouds between 2014 and 2017. My clientele never wanted to pay much to add it in, and some thought it was "cheesy" to do (Which I found strange) so I abandoned that add on option.

@LuxeIslandEvents I basically did a poll between 2013 and 2016 with my clients. I asked them if they are interested in large TVs showing music videos, or slide shows, or video presentation, and if they would pay to add that in. 1 in over 100 said maybe.

nicely done sir! I remember back in the day you would offer some stuff you didn't even own yet. How did that work for you? I don't mind doing it for small things like sparklers or the dance light foam stick things, but I'm nervous of saying "yes I can do a monogram" and then be scrambling to purchase the gear, get a software to make them, and then learn how to use it properly....and that's IF the venue works out nicely for the monogram LoL.

Every time I want to add a new service, I always offer it for free to an existing customer to gain the experience in what it takes to use it in a real world situation. The client is happy and I’m happy to know I can provide that service now. For example I wanted to offer monograms, so I bought a projector and bought a monogram design online and offered it to a client. Now I know how to do monograms, last thing you want to do is charge a client for a service you never done and end up messing up on something they payed good money for. I’ve made that mistake before and never will make it again.

On your site I know many people think it’s easier to call but you can add call we can work within your budget these are the basic packages we have, but can accommodate don’t be shy. Something like that I know many people book based off package pricing on line they feel like there being shady trying to keep it on the DL. I know it seems to be a weird thing that many say not to do this but the range of parities I’ve worked with I’ve seen it time an time again they booked with a company that had it posted and they felt more comfortable

Dancing on cloud.... is that an rgb Led dancefloor..??? Here in uk I spent a total on my show of £40,000 Included a 20 x 16 ft black rgb dancefloor. That alone was £14,000. If you have good quality equipment you can justify charging more, for a full wedding package I would rather stay at home and do for less than £1,500. I've had only a hand full of weekends off in last year esp since I've got my floor

Thanks Barr a great info video and maybe a disclaimer fine print on your packages would be that it is the responsibility of the buyer to inform them selves with whoever their venue is , what they accept or reject in regards to dj equipment that way is not on you, it's on the venue's rules for which you have no control over, thanks

I agree with most of the video except for the multimedia being $650. How would you justify that when someone can go out and buy themselves two brand new 50” TVs for $500?

Two 50 inch tvs alone are ALREADY AT $ 4-500 , Not to mention Cabling and connections, live stream in real time for slideshows(Photos) ,Their Logo, OR Music videos being played etc... trust me it adds up ..... At the end of the day they can do it themselves ,sure, BUT the whole point is that they are paying someone .ie (YOU) to do it so that THEY dont have to. Why do people pay mcdonalds $4.00 for a big burger when you can make yourself 5 big burgers for $10 and have it taste better ??? . Theres also the reliable equipment and skill factor . Most people arent that tech savvy in hooking up all the equipment to get it to run right and in sync with the music.....

1st. I don't know how I'd react if a venue said I couldn't bring lights. I'd likely set them up, and make the coordinator stop everything and ruin the event. 2nd. That's a dick move to charge customers a higher price due to your preferences.

Most people just want a party rocker I bring my set up and my lights and rock ... in my opinion djs in the name of greed have watered down their true purpose and have shit on other professions such as lighting companies...photo booth people...photography etc now if you are doing all at a high level ...I guess it’s cool but most are shitty at all those added services but use these add ons to make a quick buck ...what if a lighting company guy says he dj to make a buck but he sucks shit but it’s in his package and most clients go with the one stop shop deal because they are lazy and don’t want to do the work!
