Hmmm tbh I found the retrospective timetable really useful but only when coupled with a prospective revision timetable! so set out your (expected) dates - because it provides a goal + estimate, then as the days go by, mark down how much you've done and level of confidence. Expected date can be altered according to the confidence level. - great idea but I think the prospective part is REALLY important when making a revision timetable.

Okay, I tried this approach for four months this year and it worked well; it kept me motivated to study every day because I always had things to revise, but now it's April 2024 and there are a lot of new topics coming in. And I was unable to review the topics I studied in February 2024 (even though the majority of them are green). But I wanted to go over them in case I had forgotten. So, it made me wonder if I should include dates in advance like in prospective revision of when I want to review previous topics in a spaced repetition method from now on...Which I will do.

10:55 when he said “who cares, it’s all just psychology” I CARE 😭😅 I love psychology, you should make videos a going a little into depth of what psychology topics you have studied, and maybe even physiology, anatomy, etc 💓💓

The only downside of the retrospective timetable in my opinion is that most students wouldn't have the foresight to gauge how long they had before the exams so they might end up doing 5 chapters extremely well over the period of two weeks but cram in the other 5 in the last week or so. Personally, I use the prospective revision timetable but I do have the chapter list of the retrospective revision timetable on a separate sheet and I colour code them and update them whenever I finish studying one chapter and feel more confident about it. Hope yous got what I meant x

Yes Ali I do the revision like this. I just don’t know that this really exists and thought I was the most weird one doing so . Who thinks of topics and doesn’t seem like a geek who has a thought about the future or predict the future and make a plan . Also I used the active recall and spaced repetition techniques without DVD. Having the knowledge of they existed so during my Med school. And yes I topped my University too that year and don’t know how it was miraculously. Now I recall of those and think that they are really valuable techniques and I discovered and did them myself . Glad I came across this content which confirms that these do exist and are really keys to do well. And learning be becomes fun and you become more confident as you keep doing these. That’s what I had observed and it takes little effort to reach that level of perfection.

Wow ! Prospective revision timetable has always worked very well for me, I've got really good grades throughout my bachelor's degree using it. However, I gotta say that your retrospective revision timetable is sooooo smart. I'll be using it during my master's this fall for sure. Thank you very much !
