I wouldn’t be too worried about it. I plan to use the old materials until I get through the old HSK 6 and then study for the new one. In the end, the test is only practical for qualifying your fluency. The truth is that your connections with Chinese speakers are far more important. Language is about people. Language is not the code of a test.

Whoa! 50 pages of vocab! Your cue cards are so well organised. Colour coordinating is a great idea. I'm still not going to learn Chinese though! Haha. I just know enough to order food - that is my main concern. Beijing is a pretty easy city to navigate without knowing Chinese.

I've downloaded that list before and printed it and most of the definitions are inaccurate, so this is not a good method at all. I am trying to do a similar technique myself but I have to admit that there is no easy way to score the effectiveness of this method vs another. This points out a fairly common problem on youtube, people will come up with a new technique and immediately tell people how great it is even though they just started that technique and have been doing it for less than a week, once again I've done that myself because I was excited however what's actually going on does not correlate to what's being said.
