Studying science is just good for familiarity but isn’t helpful if you don’t know how to apply it in an unseen way. The best thing to do is to get yourself into the mindset that Gamsat requires, that’s how to synthesize the information and draw main ideas from it.

Hi there, I decided not to do the GAMSAT in the end as my science knowledge was quite limited. Instead, I spent the last year redoing my gcses in biology and chemistry and have just been accepted onto an access to medicine course. I’m taking the UCAT in sept and will be reapplying for non-gamsat schools. Hope that helps!

Hello, I have studied Physics, biology and chemistry in 12th from my homeland, but here In Germany I am studying physics, maths and chemistry for 12th(this is to merge my 12th from home country and Germany) . Can you tell me if I have to do BSC or Bs in biology only to appear for GAMSAT? or like you, any non scientific Degree? Will passing the GAMSAT give me a one way ticket to the medical school? Or will they question that I haven’t studied biology? Or stuff??? Thank you very much

Hi Claire I recently graduated from nursing and not from science and planning to sit for GAMSAT. I heard if I do master in nursing I don’t need to worry For GPA because they don’t consider gpa if have done masters.

Hey! Just start off by seeing what topics you need to know about. Then, i'd slowly start to cover them topic by topic, using some practice questions to test yourself as you go, and later doing full practice tests. This is what I did, and found it quite useful :)

Hey 😊 personally I don’t think you need to, I didn’t, and I think there’s enough good resources out there to help you understand certain topics eg Kahn academy videos on top of learning from A level text books

GraduateMedic-Claire Okay, thank you for your response. I thought as much. I know a person who spent around 8K in total for the grad-med course in London that’s for the course, travel from Wales & hotel stay & he didn’t even get in & then he gave up. Such a waste. But let’s say you want to buy 1 or 2 books, which one is the best Gold standard, Des O’Neill, Fraser or Ace GAMSAT? And concerning the PDF question pack that you were talking about where can I find it please?

@@ruchie3461 Out of the ones you mention I would say Des O'Neill! I hadn't seen Fraser or Ace GAMSAT. I have looked at the gold standard but I'm not sure it would be the first thing I'd buy. I found other teaching resources more useful e.g. youtube videos and A level text books, once you understand the basic principles I would do as many questions as possible!

Thanks so much! I found this difficult at first too as I came from a non-science background like you (law). I think its most useful to spend the majority of the time doing practice questions, as they're often based on logic rather than pure recall and it will help you start answering questions this way :)

Hello Claire! I’m getting into undergrad soon and I aim to sit the gamsat before I graduate. May I ask when do I have to start preparing? Do I have to start preparing by the first year of university? English isn’t my native language and Im concerned whether that will be an obstacle for me. I’ve also never studied physics, let alone excelled in physics, so I’m somewhat worried about that section.

Hey! Don't worry, it sounds like very early days for you still. I only started prepping the same semester as the gamsat, first year sounds quite early! But it depends on your background, doing a little bit of background work will definitely help but don't forget to focus on your undergrad first and foremost :)
