Yes, you are totally right, "une culotte" in french is a women's underwear (one that covers the buttcheeks). But in the past, "culottes" was refering to pants and/or breeches. During the first french revolution, the revolutionary ppl were called "sans culottes" because they didn't have those high quality breeches. In my region, we brew a (naughty) beer called "l'alsacienne sans culotte" (the pantyless alsatian girl).

Fernanda, I like that you included the "warmer" looks with the booties and the turtleneck. First, because it's helpful to see how one piece would transition into a different season. Second, because winter is soon arriving for our friends in the southern hemisphere...I'm sure you must have viewers for whom the weather is getting colder as ours is getting hotter!

When I started creating wardrobe capsules, and before I had honed on my personal style and specific fashion and lifestyle "needs", I used to have a travel capsule, a work capsule, a weekend capsule, a "dressy event" capsule...all very compartmentalized. With time and experience, of course, I've learned the silhouettes and materials that I can more easily use throughout the year and across events. I would enjoy to see your take on it. For example, I have a pair of lightweight wool pants, straight leg, unlined, black, that I wear all seasons, even summer. By changing the footwear, they've taken me to work, weddings, funerals, and baby showers, on airplanes and sunset wine cruises, to church services, Sunday brunches, and dates. Same goes with a medium blue sheath dress I've had for years. I wear it with white sneakers in warm weather and high-heel OTK boots during the colder months. Would love to see what your "magic" pieces are!

Hi Fernanda. I love all your videos and your looks. If I remember correctly, I think that gauchos are Mexican pants when riding horseback. People keep telling me that when choosing a colour from a floral print to chose a colour from the flowers and not the green leaves. Not sure why this is better. If the print was leaves then it's fine to choose green. I really adore those camel coloured shoes, absolutely gorgeous. Lucky you!!

Hi Sherry - yes you are correct! The term gauchos does come from South America, but mainstream fashion has adopted them. I've never heard what you say about the matching colors to the floral prints... I think it would depend on the size of the leaves on the print, but I don't think I necessarily agree with it.

I was ten years old when I was given almost the same wide short pants, only made for a boy. These pants were ankle length. When I first put them on, I felt strange - I thought wearing these pants would make me look like a girl. But after two or three days I got used to these pants and it became very pleasant for me to wear them. I wore them for a walk or when I went to visit. These pants went well with light sandals or slippers worn on bare feet. It was very pleasant for me to feel my ankles exposed with every step, and it seemed to me as if I was wearing a long skirt instead of pants.

You can take tips from this video and pair them with a t-shirt, a cami, a turtleneck (long or short sleeve) etc. I am also in the process of launching a service where we do a 1hr zoom call and you show me the pants and some things in your closet and we come up with a bunch of outfits you could wear with that you already have! Do you know what would be a great idea to get a workwear brand to sponsor a video and give you a four piece suit (Blazer, dress, skirt, and trousers all in the same fabric) Then fit those pieces into your 54321 capsule formula to demonstrate a corporate office wardrobe! If you love the culottes why not get the same pair in a different color or do you not like duplicates? Love the outfits

This is quite summerish. I ran into black culottes in a thrift store that are so stiff, they can stand on their own, and they are thick wool, so they look warm, yet they are only warm at the tummy as the legs are so wide and they draw in tons of fresh winter air. Luckily they have a very defined waist with nice waistband, not the undefined stretch-n-fold zone yours have. Naming conventions are absolutely frustrating. If you search culotte you find mostly "granny panties", goucho is also hardly used and different. People here say "broekrok" or "pantskirt", but that also catches everything from pencil-skirt tight to flamenco tents. Another thing that is close, is the Japanese Hakama, but those can be pleat heavily. So I treat it more mathematically: 4/5 inseam A-line pants.

Culotte = underpants, breeches, "the bottom" part of an object...you're a Spanish speaker, Fernanda, I'm sure you can think of a related "naughty" word. :-) :-) :-) In contemporary speech, you can use the expression "sans-culotte" in the same way some English speakers say "going commando".

In Quebec, we use des culottes for pants (it is plural), but in France they use une petite culotte (it is singular) for women panties.

I’m petite too! But it’s all about proportions. If they are too big or hit you in the wrong spot, they overwhelm the figure. But if they fit right 👌🏽
