Never use a towel, or scrunch your hair lightly to remove the excess of water. Keep your hair damp and brush it. Also buy a horn comb with wide teeth, it will change your life

I have the job of styling my live-in BF's curly hair (type 3a/b) when he has to work as supervisor at his job, wearing a suit. Fortunately I went to beauty school so I have a feel for different hair types (mine is straight, type 1b/c). But I did not learn this in beauty school. It's just common sense. It's the easiest thing in the world. A lot of curly guys don't know what to do with their hair so they just let it sit there like a fuzzy mop. But if they just used a little product and a little sleight of hand, curly hair can be so pretty. Much prettier than straight. Here's how I do it: I wet his hair a bit and run it through with a fine-tooth comb to make sure it's all slightly damp. Then I apply a little bit of hair gel diluted with some water. Don't want it to get too stiff, but you want it to be enough to stay shaped and defined. You comb that through with the comb as well. The hair should be flat to the scalp now. Then you use your fingertips to very lightly scrunch the hair so the curls pop back up but are shiny and defined. Then you let the hair dry and *do not touch it*. Easy, you don't need a cosmetology degree to do this, even a man can do it himself.

Ozan Akipek Use a leave in conditioner on soaking dripping wet hair then use a gel. Scrunch and when it dries and it gets crunchy, don't panic just scrunch it and shake your roots out. VIOLA FRIZZ FREE CURLS

I need help trying to find a cut or style for me hair. Im 17 and my hair is a mixture between really wavy and curly. Its really thick, and really messy and kind of has a mind its own. Not sure why curly hair is still a mystery to even expert nowadays... Scrunching? Gorl no no no no BIG NO you completely mess up the curl strands and ur head ends up looking like 2 cat just had a fight up there. The best way to apply these kinda products is to spread ur fingers and lightly and gently comb through ur curls.

You're talking about the rake and shake method which doesn't work for everyone in giving definition. Scrunching helps enhance the curls, especially in shorter/looser textures.

For us Asians, curly hair just doesn't seem to match our sling eyes and high cheekbones. I have larger waves, almost mistaken as straight but when combed just gives additional unnecessary dimension. Just ugly.
