How-To: Subaru Oil Warmer/Cooler Delete

Is your Subaru’s oil warmer/cooler leaking either coolant or oil?
Here’s how to remove it entirely if you decide it is unnecessary.
(This specific engine was an EJ251 in a 2004 Forester).
Parts used (OEM #’s from dealership):
Oil Filter Union: 15018AA090
Coolant Galley Plug: 11021AA121

Good video Cody. The oil warmer looks alot like the oil filter ring we install on heavy equipment for our evac systems

Nice trick for getting that plug out! 😊 I feel fairly comfortable running the "TG" series Fram filters in everything I own. I don't know if I should or shouldn't, but the quality & filtration definitely surpasses the cheapest, "PH" filters and it doesn't cost that much more.

I need to figure out how the previous owner did it on the Forester. The cooler assembly is still there but with no lines so I guess they just capped it off within it somehow..? Nice video though showing this method!

They must have just capped all of the coolant nipples? The oil is contained inside the unit
