Excellent tutorial! You did a fantastic job. I have 4.25 inch tiles left from the bathroom and this is my next project. I followed your instructions and am ready to print. I got a cheap toaster oven and am going to start on the tiles tonight. I'm excited to make this, mine will go in a frame to hang in the kitchen, as I have no back splash area big enough. Thank you! Great Tutorial! You have me wanting to search around the house for tiles, lol. Mine will be 12", left from the floors (I hope). Also, I hope by now you are in the new place & getting back to some kind of normal. Will keep you in our prayers that you all stay safe. We are in the South Plains of TX, and so far (we came here Jan 1st 2006) we have skirted most of the damaging storms.

Hi Denise I live in Australia we don't sell Minwax Polycrylic here in this country, I bought a very small can of clear polycrylic from amazon to have a go, my first tile came out OK, following your instructions Not perfect as I see streaks lol LOVED your video, how did you paint the polycrylic and get no bubbles or streaks?? what polycrylic did you use Matt Gloss or Satin, I used a foam brush what's your method lol xxx I bought a small can Cabot's when I took my small can of minwax polycrylic to my local hardware this what they told me to use, Cabot's Cabothane Clear Water Based is a clear polyurethane for doors, windows, trim and furniture. It is a highly durable, hard wearing and fast drying varnish. Going to bake a tile today to see if it works Thank you

Hi Denise. Your video is terrific and has made me wanting to switch from using laminate to using polycrylic. But, I'm having a problem and hope you still pick up the comments from this video and can help me. I followed the procedure you laid out for painting and poressing the tiles. I used Polycrylic Clear Mattew and after painting the tile waited 8 hours for it to dry. After that I went to sublimate the coated polycrylic tile. Heat press at 400 degrees and using the same papler layer set up as you with a nomex felt pad pressed the tile face down for 8 minutes. When done I peeled the a-sub paper hot and did not get the easy smoth paper removal you show in the video. The paper completely sticks to the tile. Please please help. Thank you

Sorry I'm not the original poster of this video but in reading your comment you say that you dried the polycrylic tile and then went straight to subbing it. I think it's mentioned that you have to bake the tile to set the polycrylic then you can sub after the tile is cooled off.

great tutorial. How many coats of polycrylic did you apply before baking? Did you use glossy or matte? I heard in your video that you baked at 400; but I did not catch for how long. Was this on a convection setting? Thank you for all of the insight. Wanting to make some coasters and a wall hang with left over white tiles that I have. Appreciate your time and talent.

So how do u prep and paint the poly gloss on to ceramic tiles. Do u wear any type of mask

Hi Denise I did my first Cabot's Cabothane Clear Water Based which is a clear polyurethane, on my ceramic tile today it worked great BUT for a few streaks and bubbles I could not get rid of, when I put my first tile in my craft oven I notice about 15 min in the coating started to turn brown it started to burn so I placed the second tile in a baking dish and covered the top with foil it worked great, just wish I could figure out how to paint the polycrylic/ Cabot's on the tile without the bubbles or few streaks,how did you overcome this problem? xxx

you said you painted your tile and "baked" it at 300 degrees for 45 mins. Did you bake it in the heat press or in your oven?

Mine did the same. The paper stuck and when I went to scrub it off, my image came off like pealing skin.

I did 2 tiles, one came off just fine, the other paper stuck and picture came off like peeling skin. So one worked and one didnt
