Hi quick question - If employer did not register you for pension fund but deducts the money from salary and it can be proved. How does this effect your tax return with reference to: Mark with an “X” if you made any contributions to pension and/or provident fund for the purposes of past / additional services bought, and that is not reflected on any IRP5 or IT3(a) certificate.

Thanks....very helpful... question... does SARS include the Bank interest "Local Interest (excluding SARS interest)" when calculating what you owe or what they owe you? Or do you have to do a Provisional Tax return for that?

My return has been rejected because the employer capture the incorrect Tax directive number on my IRP5 which does not match SARS record. That i will have manually update the correct IRP5 from the employer or the company must send it to SARS first?

Hi, this is really helpful. What about a rental income, but that income is used to pay the bond taken on that property. End of the day you at a loss more than gain, keeping in mind the levies and other expenses. How do you file that.

thank you for this brilliant tut. please can you help me, SARS is saying they have added penalties to a friends e filing, because there are 3 IRP5's missing from their records - she has never done a return. I'm trying to help her, but cannot get the form to download from efiling - its for 2013 2018 & 2022... she's always worked for one employer and has never had any other income. and is always below the threshold for submissions. how do i help her

I was select for verification and SARS want a Detailed financial Schedule / statement of the other expenses incurred in the period including the relevant the invoices and receipts relating to the deductions claimed. i allready send them the receipts with a detailed spread the receipts claim . Give a sample of a Detailed financial schedule / statement.

You have to get the company to correct your IRP5 and resend it to you.

While this certainly assists me, it does not say what should be done when the populated tax return for 2022 does not appear after requesting it as instructed and the processing of such a return continues indefinitely, albeit that it should only take a few seconds!

Hi needs yr assistance i have a tax directive that i need to file i have put all the details but its still telling me that there is an error in my rp5 i have manualy put in the lump sum on income recieved and then same amount on retirement income recieved then there is zero contributions and 0.00 paye then it was one year 2012-03-01 and 2013_02_28 on number of year 0.0012 periods worked 0.0012 and basically thats the info they need but still is rejecting my return pls assist

Hope you were able to get it worked out, but the issue may be the periods you put, check with your IRP5.

Hi Mpendulo i have the same problem, did you come right? I think its something to do with the certificate number that suppose to be 30 characters. But i not sure what to put on the last 11 digits which is a unique code made up of numbers and letters. Please let me know

Hi , good tutorial . Just to recap , the Employer submits the EMP501 and gives the employee the IRP5 certificate , then the employee enters the same information into their personal ITR12? My sister had a duplicate of income and deductions last time we did hers.

Ideally, your IRP5 would be prepopulated by SARS, in this case you don't capture it again as a second IRP5. You would only manually input your IRP5 details if for some reason, SARS has not already captured it, as was the case in our video.
