I definitely use all that, but I'd add that I think you can also submit allot of moderns that you like art on, for is what is generally considered a "collectible" title. Assuming you think it's extremely high grade.

Definitely...I'd consider that a mix of the two categories. Preserving art has value in and of itself.

First thumbs up #fullwatch 1) I can't really think of any specific topics. Perhaps, best bag and boards to store books and how to store them. I notice books are bag and boarded but even how you flip through them can add defects. 2) Right now, I am not really doing slabs, but perhaps in the future I'll send some of my mintier Hobby doubles. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Thanks for the full watch! And, 1) I think that's a great idea (and perhaps could be part of a series on organization/storage) and 2)There are definitely some beautiful Hobby covers you could display! And, of course, ASM 238 is one of those copper age keys that is valuable even in higher mid grade.

Funny timing! I'm about to send in my first ever 25 comic batch to CGC. Most of them are just sweet modern covers. But there are a few nicer books in there.

Good information. I always look at overall cost for slabbing, and if the book would be more valuable if the book is slabbed.

Thanks! And, great point about looking at overall costs - it's easy just to consider the cost of the grading, but there's also shipping, pressing if needed, etc.

I haven't had the pleasure of sending any books into get graded yet because I need to save up some money first. LOL but I'm going to go through a presser because I don't have but maybe four or five books I want to send in and I don't want to pay for the subscription yet. Can't afford both LOL
@wahoocomics
@wahoocomics Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it definitely can all get expensive haha! Going through a presser is a great idea if you don't want to get a subscription yet. That's what I did with my first submission. I hope to make a video on choosing a presser sometime in the near future.

Great vid. Most of my slabs are from private signings. I like having those and others graded for the extra protection. Not looking to sell anything really lol. I like the thrill of finding out the grades also lol. I like getting unique books signed or graded even though I realize they won’t be worth much more than the sig or slab cost lol. Thanks for starting up a cool new series. Be well. -Dave 🤙

Thanks! And, getting unique books signed/graded is a cool way to enjoy the hobby!...and slabbing them is definitely a great way to preserve/protect them. Btw, you might want to check out my giveaway video that went up last week ;)

I had been collecting for about 20 years and I have been selling off books over the last year and half to grade some of my keys or covers I liked. Just like when I bought everything the hobby had to pay for it self and I have been selling books to pay for the grading. Some of these where purchased really cheap so the grade being up or down does not matter as much to me, 785 books over the last 1-1;2 years. Also I never have book pressed not that i am against it but was willing to take them as is.

Very cool! Do you have a favorite slab or two?

Bear in mind the now quicker turnaround times as a result of CBC hiring alot more workers to grade comics. As such, these new/newer hires are still 'learning the craft' themselves & one might get vastly varying (harsher) subjective judgements.
@wahoocomics
@wahoocomics Жыл бұрын
Great point! I agree that CGC has generally been harsher lately because of the new hires. It's definitely a factor that needs to be considered when deciding which, if any, books to send to them at this moment (or to wait until things "return to normal"). Thanks for the comment!
