This was a great video! I have been an administrative assistant for over 30 years. I was able to measure my skills with the video and was pleased to say "I measure up to your tips". Although they come naturally, it is good to categorize them in the manner you've laid out.

May I ask what stops you from pursuing higher-level positions, such as Admin Manager or Office Manager? 30 years seems crazy, unless they increment your salary but it can't be higher than higher-level positions, or can they?

Excellent video. I have 5 friends who do admin & accounting for big companies and they're all super stressed, too much is expected of them and 2 of them who happen to be really good at their jobs quit. Is not easy when managers & directors don't have a clue of how much work is involved and they overload administrators or assistants, not to mention all the mistakes they have to put up with and repair when is a big corporation and they have to work as a team. Poor management can lead to a chain of bad results. Myself as a client i've experience the consequences of terrible management and operations from certain big companies.

Administrative skills are in high demand across various industries, making it a transferable skill that can be taken anywhere. Starting as an administrative assistant is a great way to learn about a specific field and gain experience in various tasks such as scheduling, filing, expense reports, and transcribing meeting notes. To excel in the role, it's important to learn about the preferences of the principal and become proficient in the digital tools and software they use. Being organized, understanding the team dynamics, and being available are also crucial to success. In addition to hard skills, there are four soft skills that can help administrative assistants level up: discretion, resourcefulness, communication, and adaptability. Being able to handle confidential information and changing the topic when necessary are key aspects of discretion. Resourcefulness involves being able to problem-solve and anticipate issues. Communication skills are essential for interacting with clients, vendors, and personnel. Finally, adaptability is important to handle unexpected situations and work well in a constantly changing environment. With these skills, administrative assistants can be a valuable asset in any organization. ----From Notta's video summarizer

Time to ponder. Why we should know the preferences of principal? Our products are our students. We should knw\ow their preferences & how to tackle them. If the admins group is more than one , then the preferences should be discussed and need to b e compromised as you said managers need to listen to others.

Yes, I like it because it describes my role very well. I would add that it is essential to know your company policies, sometimes even better than your boss; the news about the city where you live or the places your boss is visiting. You also have to be aware of the use of sites or apps such as Google flights, Maps, Flights Aware, etc. And maybe this is not for every woman, but if you want to be appreciated, respected and considered by the direction of the company and your boss, take care of yourself without changing your boss world too often just because you need it; dress accordingly, be nice to everyone. You will be the first impression of the company many times. If none of this is important to you, maybe you should think changing your path, or about this role as a mere step to something else. I also consider being positive a great quality for this job. Nobody has amazing days every day, but if you can be yourself and be helpful to your boss, the job is really rewarding (of course, a good boss paves the way).

How do I do expense reports? Is it hard? I obtained my administrative assistant certificate from my local junior community college. However, business math (statistics, accounting), excel and expense reports weren't part of the cirriculumn. Also, for my disability, remote work is the way to go. However on-site is fine, just more strenous for my setbacks. Just as good on the job ethic and work for me though. Any help would be most appreciated.
