In this video I show how how easy it is to use the Proxxon BSG 220 drill sharpening machine to sharpen twist drills to DIN standard.

A good review as usual Steve. Very clear and detailed. This should help anyone who didn't understand the instructions. Cheers Nobby

Using this grinder properly is a project in itself.

Minute 7:43 - perhaps ten millimeters or eleven will not do any problems. What it's important is that - when reversing the drill to sharp the other side - that distance will remain always the same, and the drill will touch again the back metal, so the rear wheel ( the plastic one with divisions ) will remain "true", to get equal sides at the point of the drill ( and the point of the drill will remain "centered" ... )

I bought a PROXXON Mf 70, a micro mill, a few years ago. It was converted to CNC. However I exceeded the intermittence, not told any ware, and fried the motor winding. The Swedish agent sent me the wrong motor and it took 6 months to get the payment back. When returning the wrong motor to the agent PROXXON was contacted. 2 quick Emails and the shipment reached me containing the correct motor within 2 weeks. That's German precision! Looking at something intended to be a cooling fan it's obvious that the designer had no knowledge at all regarding air flow. Loosing patience in creating a proper cooling the MF70 has only been connecting dust. Go for better, more solid tools then PROXXON. Sorry, not looking at the entire video. It started telling the back side I already experienced.

a smaller knob on that guide clamping screw could mean you could use less than 10mm stickout in the back, and then seat that drill guide against the face of that lower clamping block

The dial was spinning all over as you sharpened the drill.

Yes I know I will sort that out. It still came in at the same point, though. I just couldn't be bothered to film it again.

Minute 12:20 - too much forward, unless your drill has missing pieces ... half turn of the back wheel should be ok. Also the motor has very low power, and too much work can damage it ... moreover you have then to rotate all the sistem, an so the motor will work much more ...

Please , whats the smallest diameter drill it will "practicly" sharpen ?
@SteveJordan8 ай бұрын
I think it will do any size, but with the smaller ones, you will need the Proxxon small dia drill adapter set. You can buy this set on eBay.

If I had that fangled contraption it would be on Ebay too! The Vevor collet machine leaves this for dead, in ease of use and accuracy.

Hi Yes, I was going to try one of those when they are sold by Vevor in the UK. They look excellent.

Totally agree, I have the proxxon drill sharpener also and because you have to flip the drill over it is very difficult to keep your grinds perfectly centred. I bought myself the vevor grinder in the end which really is worth every penny. The proxxon is gathering dust.

I have found that the Proxxon has a perfect grind every time. However, I will get the Vevor one to try as soon as it becomes available at Vevor UK. The Vevor one looks excellent.

Doesn't seam like you ran the drill thru the sharphening until the wheel was finished grinding the first face of the bit. Shouldn't you keep grinding until the wheel stops grinding.

Hi, yes, I did that. Regards, Steve

Yes, it is, really. They really need to lower the price. The trouble is that companies like this seem to have become complacent now.
