That's a great idea using motorcycle chains. I never thought of that. All the best, Steve

that wrench you use on the tool rest looks very similar to a type of wrench once used on EMC data storage (Symmetrix) cabinets.

Thanks for a smart approach to the drill sharpening subject. Instead of setting up this in my lathe I am now blowing new life in an "long time paused" project using a variable speed source for various grinding discs and a versatile tool holder. I can see that Vevor has a fairly cheap cast iron coordinate table in sufficient size and is only 10 kg heavy. Cheers // Ingvar, living in Sweden

Thanks for your videos! Great ideas and mods that you have shown us. I am new to the mini lathe. My thumbs and wrists ache from winding these slides in and out. I am going to make a couple of these for myself. I so appreciate you sharing your ideas and projects!!

Hello Steve when I originally saw this video I bought one of these maplin switches as I have the same Amadeal lathe to keep as a spare in case my switch failed. I also have an Amadeal milling machine that has the same switch. The one on the mill has now failed. The difference on the milling machine is that it doesn’t have a reverse function. I wonder if the maplin switch could be used without having to modify it like you did for the lathe? As I have no knowledge on electronics I wonder if you could give me any advice. I did fit a new switch from Amadeal but this failed straight away. Hope you are keeping well ATB Nobby

This looks great for home use. I melt aluminium (cans) in brick oven with coal which works, but isn't very practical. Also needs forced air source.

You should connect the motor small blue thermal overload wires to the VFD auxiliary connection terminals to stop the VFD when the motor overheats?

Once it's square and screwed down, should drill the square plate/base plate at the back for some tapered dowels.

Hi Steve, i have PRO 8 Ruixin sharpener. I modded the stones by using epoxy glue to fix a piece of 20mm x 3mm aluminium flat as the stones fracture easily when dropped. One step better by Ruixin would be to supply a separate range of replacement stones. Stones by Ruixin don't seem be readily available in Australia.

Evening, Steve - Recently purchased this: "LIBAOTML Adjustable Speed Polishing Machine, Multi-Function Bench Lathe Polisher, Bench Grinder..." It's very similar to yours, and mine did come equipped w/ a decent flex-shaft. Also cane with several of these Dremel-like polishing "Bits." Haven't had a chance to set it up yet, but I've heard nothing but good about it. Think I paid about $125.00 or so for it. I'll have to sub to your channel and see if you have any videos about some dust collection/hoods? A type of small bench top ventilation rig would be good for what I'll be using it for. Appreciate your well done review here, thanks & take good care...

The default settings cannot be changed permanently. as soon as the unit turns off (either manually or automatically), the unit will revert back to default settings. This can be annoying when you need the unit to stay on for more than the default 5 minutes. The operating manual gives no instruction for the units use procedures, only button and screen description. The unit fails to register shot info in daylight conditions. Mine would only pick up shots in near total darkness. The manufacturers claim to be able to register "Air Rifle Pellet Velocities" is for speeds less than 500 FPS... nothing above that speed will register. The bluetooth app is simply a gimmick and has no real use. It will show shot info, but much less useful info than the units own display shows. The unit itself feels like an empty plastic box, with low quality buttons and case fit. My opinion of this chrono is: Don't buy this unit. The price is too high and the "Half-Ass" tech is very disappointing.

Made a couple myself. Used some old fishing tackle wip ends no drilling needed already hollow just need the right diameter for 177 or 22. Small wood screw and small drill bit and the loctite. No damaging the barrel with fibreglass.

Good morning Steve I hope you are well. I have followed your videos on upgrading the mini lathe over the years and have carried out many of your upgrades and machining fixtures on my previous 7x14 mini lathe. I now have a new 8x16 mini lathe and am about to make your 4 jaw tapping chuck fixture however I propose to use an aluminium bar end which I already have. Do you think that aluminium would be suitable or should I try to find a steel or cast iron bar end. I have learned a lot and have drawn much inspiration by following your videos. I wish you well, thank you very much.

I found that using brass shim stock worked well for removing any taper, I also found that any given thickness of shim stock made a bigger difference to the taper when it was used under the bolts under the headstock. I discovered this because I was getting a little 'alarmed' by the amount of shim stock that I was using near the tailstock of the lathe, I was getting concerned that I might crack the bed of the lathe! I ended up with shim stock diagonally opposite each other. I got my lather to less than 1/2 a thou over 4 inches which is good enough for me!

my two cents about this: add a T and a second ball valve and then sit the tank upside down, so you can drain the water inside. maybe make the T long enough to extend off the sides so you can access them without effort once the tank is upside down.

im building some grinders and have a very similar setup to you , i wired the motor in star config like you and just left it as default and it seemed to run fine but when i put a belt on it had no torque i stopped the motor and the vfd just went out and is dead. i dont know if i need to have it delta config and set voltage and max hz to thye motor stating 50hz? please help all thge tutorials dont mention this and are all american to make it more confusing

Good idea with the plywood. I used another bottle jack. A right ball ache. I don't think the springs are the correct length for the set up. Longer ones would be better?
