this actually is a real problem in the US, because in a process called "civil asset forfeiture", american cops can confiscate ANYTHING, including commonly cars and "suspiciously large amounts" of cash under the suspicion that the object is involved in the commission of crimes or bought with the proceeds of crimes (drug dealing being the standard assumption), and then sue the object for the suspected crimes, not the owner. the real trick is that while US law allows objects to be sued, objects are not granted the presumption of innocence, but are instead effectively presumed guilty unless the owner proves them innocent by proving that they were acquired legitimately (good luck with doing that with cash) and not used to commit crimes (good luck proving a negative). if the object is not proven innocent, it becomes the fucking property of the police department that ceased it, thereby enabling and incentivising the police to commit literal legal robbery.

I know someone who was being hired to translate the cuneiform tablets when the warehouse got raided. They obviously didn’t get the job but they were disappointed they never got to translate the tablets

Clacker balls can actually be dangerous depending on what they're made of, which is usually hard brittle plastic that can shatter and basically cause the fragmented shards to fly into children's faces causing face and eye injuries. And there were many injuries reported.
