The joke with the donkey is that figs were incredibly expensive so a donkey eating them would traditionally be a tragedy but he made a joke about it saying "get him some wine to wash em down" a modern day equivalent would be standing outside your mansion as it burned down looking to your butler and saying "well what are you waiting for get some logs for the fire"

My favorite ancient death belongs to Mithridates the great. He was a king who had a mini empire around the Black Sea, but was also incredibly paranoid that he’s would be assassinated by poison. He proceeded to do what anyone else would do on hard times and ingested poison. Only small amounts at first but amp up the amount as he went along, eventually becoming immune to most poisons. When the Roman’s were conquering his land, he tried to go out with as much dignity as possible and tried to poison himself. The only issue was that he was immune so that didn’t work. So he had his friend stab him and he promptly kicked the bucket. Mithridates died as he lived, not dying from poison.
@codysurfer8232 Жыл бұрын
What's also funny is that the reason he was so paranoid about poisoning is that his father died due to being poisoned, but the poison used to kill his father is one of the poisons people can't build an immunity to, so if he had tried to copy his dad it would've worked
@X-SPONGED Жыл бұрын

Draco's big deal was that one of his laws was that all the laws had to be posted in public where anyone could read them. Apparently nobody had thought of doing that before and the laws were mostly an oral tradition among the high class. Big problem for anyone else accused of breaking them since they literally couldn't know what the laws even were.

Qin Shi Huang also asked to be buried in a Tomb with a miniature of his empire with mercury rivers along with his terracotta soldiers to keep him safe in the afterlife. He was originally sold on the mercury idea by his royal advisors and doctors. The man asked for his tomb to be that way mostly because his mind is heavily poisoned by the mercury he constantly drunk everyday to live forever. Honestly, I blame the royal advisors for that one. Mostly because it's likely a plot to quicken his death so his second son could take the throne without too much of a hassle.

His students proceeded to mob their former teacher, tearing him apart with their bare hands, bludgeoning him with their writing tablets, and stabbing him with their pens until he finally died. Well now I'm going to be spending the rest of my evening reading that Wikipedia article. Thanks a lot.

A couple years ago, I had a different Halloween decoration setup each day in October, each of them representing a different weird historical death. Aeschylus, Philitas, and St. Lawrence were on the list.

Marcus of Arethusa must be an ancient relative of Andrew's - he died from _hugging bees_

I unironically hate doing my daily quests in Warframe, and I feel SO RANDOMLY CALLED OUT.

I could list many reasons why but this video alone proves why Andrew will always be my favorite on the Official Podcast! XD

Oh it's way crazier than that: Pythagoras didn't hate beans, he believed they were reincarnated human fetuses and was horrified by the fact that people eat them so much...

I have read that the donkey didn't just ate figs but fermented ones and got also intoxicated like Chrysippus which was why he found it so lethally funny as the donkey clumsily attempts to eat more of the fermented figs. The donkey was like his best drinking buddy, the last one who was with him when he died of the drunk donkey's silliness.

I saw the title and thumbnail and thought these would be clips of weird Dark Soul gaming deaths because my recommended is full of Dark Souls content.
