How to Supervise an iPhone with Apple Configurator in 2025

Thanks for the video. Even though I have put devices in supervisor mode many times, it doesn't work every time (Like you said) However, after doing the same process a couple of times, it worked.

Is the device you do process on, the one that will be supervising the phone permanently? Or can you login with the account that was used and do it from a different device.

are you referring to the Mac computer where you run Configurator? If so, I'm not 100% sure. I've never tried to manage it from a different computer after setting it up. Might be possible. There is at least one setting in the configurator app that has to do with allowing the device to pair with other computers, something like that. It's possible that there is a way to manage it from another mac computer, but I truly don't really know.

If you can't restore from backup, how do you get backed up messages and photos back onto phone from icloud?

Once you log back into your Apple Account, those apps start syncing and pulling the old messages and photos from iCloud. It can take a number of minutes, but as long as there was a recent backup, they've all come back, in my experience.
