How to Survey. Using a Hay Hook to lift a Manhole Lid

Some Manhole lids have small half inch holes which makes it difficult to use a Manhole Hook. for about $7 you can use a Hay Hook with some nylon strapping.

What's your solution when the lid is rusted in place?

We hit it with the sledge or use a pry bar, but if it does not open we note it. We had one the other day where it was rusted shut. " Un able to open"
