How To Survive Testing a Killer Robot

Dumb accidents can happen. Lots of people have the mindset that a small robot won't just go out of control, and proper safety isn't always taken when testing. I never thought anything like this would happen to me though, until it did. Apparently i was messing around some time ago and reversed the throttle channel on my transmitter, making the stick all the way down = full weapon throttle. Luckily I didnt have the weapon belt on, but if I did, this could have led to an accident. As soon as I powered on my transmitter, the weapon motor started spinning at full speed. Anyone can make mistakes, so please practice safety

Mistakes definitely happen! We try to have a lot of redundant safety features to keep the danger to a minimum. I like to program an arming switch on my transmitter that prevents the throttle from doing anything so even if I bump the sticks it won't spin up without me wanting it to.

Things can happen badly if anybody didn't know the safety procedures to test the Battlebot. I feel bad that your old tripod got damaged during Bloodsport 2020 test.

Little suggestion: First of all, I LOVE these magnet holders! But magnets are super brittle. make sure you use something elastic and not a stiff epoxy to glue them in. Maybe don't even glue them, but do a press fit with some rubber-ish material. Shattered magnets lose a lot of their strength. But Judging from Bloodsports performance and it's ability to keep functioning after giant hits, I'm sure you guys have gotten good at shock mounting things :)

For Proving Grounds we have very few options to add these magnets since we are reusing the same chassis as last season. We do plan to use something like RTV around thr magnets though. We can probably come up with a better system for season 8 if that ever happens with a new chassis design
