Very little has changed. I graduated UofW in the class of 1974 in Electrical Engineering. Now retired. Your suggestions are "right on" today as they were 40 some years ago. Do not let assignments back up because you'll drown. Do no let failure beat you. Get up and dust yourself off and go on forward. What I didn't realize till later was that everyone failed multiple times. It took me a number of semesters to realize my failures were less than my collogues. And pub nights were "once" a week period!!!!

I loved reading your comment! So glad to hear that this advice has stood the test of time - it definitely took me longer than I would like to admit to discover these basic ideas. Hopefully this video helps freshman for the next 40 years :)

I am a first year CS student at UWaterloo and I'm really struggling with time management. Personal side projects are super important for coops, but unfortunately I hardly get the time to work on side projects. Please make a video on how you managed your time at UWaterloo.

Yeah hi! Thank you so much for this amazing video!! It's gonna help me a lot in the near future.. I did have one question though.. how would the professors know if the friend(let's say A) who the copier(let's say B) copied from had written the original code..? Like couldn't they think that A had copied B? Because maybe not always A would have already submitted their code before B copies A's code, right? Thanks!!

Hey man, I know that co op positions can be really tough to get and I'd imagine it's even more tough as someone going into a program like computational math. (I applied to comp. Math as my second choice) Do you know what kind of jobs students in programs like those get? I'm guessing it'd be related to software but you have to do all the learning of skills by yourself since you don't get access to most of the cs classes.
