In the case that you're an international student who needs to choose: UW CS & WLU BBA with a price tag of $57,000 per year, and UWO Ivey + Economics with a $100k+ scholarship; which program would you choose realistically? (additional conditions are: your parents immigrate to Canada meaning you only need to pay int. tuition in the first year and the rest is covered as domestic students pay; you want to be a software engineer slightly more than an investment banker). I know this is a tough question, but really is an important decision to make as a grade 12 :( Thank you for your time!

Hey Jason, I am planning in Waterloo this fall. Came across your video. Thanks for the info. I'm going for computer engineering honours with co op. Was confused between rev, v1 and cmh. My needs are a social residence plus like while I'm studying I need silence. I understand pretty opposites but if you could guide a little. Thanks.
@invictuz48033 жыл бұрын
You'll be living with another roommate in rev in the same dorm room, so that's probably not ideal for studying. Also, your floor can get rowdy depending on your floormates. V1 is like rev but with mostly single dorm rooms (no roommate), and you can mingle with all your floormates if they keep their door open. CMH has individual suites with individual rooms so you'll have privacy for studying. It won't be easy to mingle with people outside of your 1-2 roommates and I've heard it stays pretty quiet there. Then again, you don't really get what you choose right? I was given MKV, which was my last choice.
@yashsethi99083 жыл бұрын
@@invictuz4803 oh got it, then I feel there might be study rooms in each floor I guess which should be a peaceful area to study at least if not the room. Anyways, thank you so so much for the information, I appreciate it.

There is! Look up "Master of Mathematics (Computer Science) | Cheriton School ..." on google for their info page. In short, you can have a Co-op option with any of the coursework, thesis, or research Master's, they just have slightly different requirements.

Hey Jason, I am currently a grade 12 student in Ontario and I recently made UW's computer engineering program (still waiting for CS). I was wondering if that's a good option for pursuing software development in the future. My goal is to work in big tech in the future. I have heard that everyone has access to the same co-op portal but do companies prefer CS/SE over CE?

Both those options are great for getting into big tech. Don't stress about it and congrats on getting in!

Hi Hiten, I am currently a grade 12 student in Manitoba and I am applying to universities right now and I am confused between Waterloo’s computer science and computer engineering. @@anirudh.chhabra I put CE as first option, CS as third option(didn’t make CS). I don’t think it matters tho. Engineering is more hardware/electrical focused with some courses about programming and CS is more math/software focused.

Is there a project (not an assignment) to make at the end of every term? Is CS at Waterloo strongly related to Maths? I would be delighted to know your answers!

Hey! Hope I can answer some of those questions well: 1. It depends on the course, but generally the courses are individual projects not group projects 2. As far as I know, no. There is no additional project on top of regular assignments. Bear in mind I did an undergrad at Waterloo, so a MS alumnus would know more
