Did this to my 2005 c50 runs amazing and sounds mean. No loss in power or problems with fuel so far. So all the people on here stating that it will mess up the engine. What's your facts to back up your claim? I just see the results and been running like this for about 2 months. No issues. And I run it hard.

@rogerscott83218 жыл бұрын
you don't have to rejet because it is fuel injected. from everything I've read, you don't have to remap because you're not changing the air/fuel mixture. there is no more exhaust coming out than there was before, there is just less there to silence it. the only time remapping will be needed is when you upgrade to a more free flowing air filter.

U r right tyler. My service guy gold me the same thing. He said u can completely gut it if u want to with no I'll effects. Change ur intake is a different matter.

@Gazeroni4 жыл бұрын
I have done a couple dramatic conversions to exhausts, and if the back pressure changes dramatically enough, you would require a rejet/remap. But with something like this I am with you...the difference is negligible. I think really what it comes down to is that your bike should tell you if something is off. If this mod results in the sound you were after and it doesn't cause issues like: discolored plugs, overheating, deceleration popping, gold/blue pipes or power surging on hard decels, then enjoy!
@randall19592 жыл бұрын
I prefer this method over just drilling out the end of the muffler. You actually want to keep some of that back pressure so you don't have to change the carburetor jets. You can also tune for the sound you want. Loud is fine as long as you don't sacrifice performance. And there is such a thing as too loud.
@ChrisG32530322 жыл бұрын
I've got a '08 suzuki VL250LC, has a big single pipe. I initially drilled 6 10mm holes. In the end I cold chiseled the whole end plate out. Gave it a bassy note, loud but not too loud. Has a light burble on downshift but doesn't backfire or crackle. I haven't retuned, and there's no sacrifice of power. I've had it up to around 125kp/h a couple of times.

My stock pipes on my C50 sound just fine the way they are. Actually, if you hear them in person the stock pipes have a surprisingly moderately loud low rumble. It's just that unlike a Harley's uneven rumble the Suzuki C50's rumble is steady and even.

The C50 doesn’t sound just fine(In my opinion). I own one and it’s barely heard on the road, and definitely not heard while sitting at a light. That why I’m watching all these modification videos for C50 exhausts. Guna try out some holes, then the backplate and if that ain’t enough..cobra it is.

To all the people that said you would loose power doing this,,, Your WRONG. the better a motor breaths the better it preforms. this is why race cars don't use mufflers !!
@TheMotorcycleGuys10 жыл бұрын
You actually can lose power if you don't rejet. If it's carbureted, there's a good chance it will run significantly richer and affect the air/fuel mixture through the rev range.
@nathandurkee7707 жыл бұрын
Dexter exhausts don't breath? You breath in and out correct? Air intake brings air in, exhaust brings air out. The better air flow in and out the more performance you get. But this does sound like crap. Buy an aftermarket exhaust.

so you re jet and open the breather..not a big fix..better than the stock

Hey, I have a honda GL500 that I'm rescuing from the junk yard. Will this work on my bike? Also... What's the importance of spiking through? Wouldn't just drilling the 4 holes suffice for sound purposes? I mean seems like the spike penetration is where you'd lose performance if any. Back pressure and all.
@ronfullerton31627 жыл бұрын
one size does not fit all on exhaust mods. Do some testing before and after a modification like this, and then you will know. Time the time needed for the bike to run through the rpm range that you use. I have a Volusia Suzuki, later called the C50 that shared the power plant with the M50. And in the case of these bikes, I would time fifth gear acceleration from 50-70 mph. Do eight to ten runs, make the mods fast and do eight to ten runs again. doing it quickly will keep variables such as temperature, humidity, wind, and such close enough so as not affect your results. If it takes longer to accelerate after than before, you need to rejet or remap. Every aspect of engine tuning is a science. But this mod simply reduces back pressure, and you may get by with current settings. But start changing tube sizes and lengths, different bends, adding more cylinders to one pipe, and other changes from stock, and you will of opened up a whole new can of worms. Testing your bikes engine performance before and after will be your best answer for your situation.

@ganonpig3 жыл бұрын
It could just be the audio quality but I couldn't really tell much of a difference. I'm currently in the process of de-baffling my stock exhaust on my C50 Boulevard. It's possibly an even simpler mod. just use a 3" and a 1.5" hole cutter saw to remove the backing plate at the end of the baffle, then use a broom stick or some small rod to wiggle the baffle until it breaks free from the tack welds. I removed 1 baffle and am currently just waiting for my only battery for my drill to recharge before doing the bottom one. LOL. I can already tell it's gonna sound way better afterwards. For once my pipes will be loud enough so the dumbasses around me will actually know where I am so they don't hit me.
@farooqkhan3729 Жыл бұрын
Hey - how did your mod go? Is there any difference observed in engine performance or fuel consumption after de-baffling?
@ganonpig Жыл бұрын
@@farooqkhan3729 Honestly I can't say for sure anymore, considering I sold the bike almost a year ago. From what I remember, performance and fuel consumption seemed to stay about the same. The only thing you'll really notice out of a mod like this is a deeper engine tune. Could be wrong though, who knows, maybe it did give me a few extra horses and I didn't even notice. lol

I got lucky and had the original owner buy my cobra pipes.. they sound off like your trying for. HD is loud and three times more expensive then it should be.
