Man, thanks for the video. I decided to scratch the GTO seats I was originally going with in the 71 Chevelle. Seeing this video I decided to go with the camaro seats...front and back. I know the front seats sit kinda high but I may have my little brother cut the headrest down some or take it out and just reupholster the back rest of the seat without the headrest. You continue to motivate me with these videos...keep them coming.💯

Very creative! It looks really good so far! I am doing a resto-mod on a 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix, which is just pretty much a stretched (in front of the firewall) GM A body (Chevelle and GTO guys have been using slightly shortened GP frames for replacements because they came boxed - like convertibles - from the factory). I have been looking for replacement leather seat covers for my damaged and worn out leather seats (was an original option in my car), but your seat swap video is making me re-think the process for my car. I think the 2015 Camaro seats would be infinitely more comfortable and add to the general resto-mod look for my car. 👍

70, 71 and 72 are identical bodies. The difference is in the front quarters and bumpers. Looks great...

If u have a gap you don’t like when u go to place the carpet buy a couple of pool noodles cut and contour to bring the carpet up to the base of the seat

That seat belt plate on the tunnel, is that off center of the tunnel? Mine is off towards the driver's side to be even on both sides from the sides of the car...that center hole lines up center of the package tray on my car so I'm confused as to if it should be centered on the tunnel...thoughts?

The seat is not exactly centered but it’s pretty close. The odd thing is the back rest is more centered than the bottom seat, yet they pretty much both line up with each other. I say that cuz my fillet pieces I had made are two different thickness. I think my passenger side is 3” and my driver side is just over 2”.

Do u mean the hooks that latch in to floor? Yes you can. You might have to make some small adjustments to seat clips tho. My back rear seat clip and latch is fully functional

They possibly could. You might be ok with the filler pieces since it has some already, I just don’t know how the sheet metal is built on that year convertible verses a 71 hardtop a Chevelle. In particular the bottom corners where I mounted mine. Maybe mock them up and see if you get some.

Mr. Griff I'm curious about the front of the bottom post of the seat. Those clips you show that are what the old seat used to hold down the bottom seat, they don't get in the way? Do you not feel them through the foam? Maybe i need a little more detail on how the front of the seat works. Thanks, btw i have a 71 cutlass that i'd like to try this on

What's up! Yes can feel them as you slide in and out the seat. However, you don't feel them when you are sitting down normal as most of the weight is on the rear of the seats and not towards the front. If I were to have people seating back there often I would build filler piece between the floor and the front of the seat cushion. That way you wont fill it at all. Honestly, to me its not a big deal, but if you wanted to remedy it you can. Hope that helps.

One more question... does the front of that bottom piece come up or pop up or can you just pull up on it and the seat will easily come up in the front? Fyi, i have a 4 door and 2 little ones i hope to cruise with. My back seat should get some action... not like that, lol.

@@andraefreeman6940 Yep! You can easily pull up on it, but it’s hooked in from the back so it won’t necessarily come out easy unless you unhook it yourself.
