I'm dutch. And back when I was a kid I needed to go to the church every sunday. But even though I was raised christian I did learn swear words like "godverdomme". When I was about 8 years old I hit my knee in the church and I said "Godver...". And I quickly followed that up with: "... in de hemel" ("... in the heavens"). Basicly making a prayer out of it. "God far in the heavens" Fun Fact: "Godverdomme" is short for "God verdom me". Translated it says: "God doom me"

A lot of Dutch people can get pretty upset when you use 'kanker' as a curse word. Mostly because it's a terrible disease that lots of people have suffered or died from. They even started a compaign against it a few years ago, but I wouldn't say it really helped that much unfortunately.

Gefeliciteerd meneer de Pau! Dit is de beste video. It's the first time that someone who teaches a language makes a video about swearing openly. This is great because we might hear all this in the Netherlands and we need to know what people say. English teachers usually censure these words. I'm amazed by the fact that Dutch and Spaniards share some common things in the way we swear. For example, if something doesn't go well, we mention genital parts like "coño" (vagina or pussy), "cojones" (balls or eggs, let's leave it at that), "polla"/"pito"/"pichina" (dick, penis, etc) and more synonymous words. We also say "mierda" (shit), which is the word I use the most, I don't use the previous ones very frequently. We also have many expressions related to religion as "me cago en Dios" (I shit in God), "hostia puta" (hostia is that food which looks like a piece of paper and it's a bit sweet, I don't know how to say it in English. Well, we say "fucking and that food"), "puta Virgen" (fucking Virgin), etc. We use a lot a sentence of food: "me cago en la leche" (I shit in the milk). Regarding food, I had a teacher who called us "cebolla", "cebollino" or "cebollón", which means "onion". Depending on our mistakes or how angry she was, she used the little onion, the onion, or the big onion. 😅🤣 And finally, we have some insults related to mental diseases as "subnormal" (someone who is under the level of being a normal person), "retrasado" (mentally disabled), "mongol" (the same meaning as in Dutch "mongool"), "anormal" (not normal)... And there are all kind of bad words about physical and behaviour things. If you're interested, I can add many more in the next comments. To sum up, you can see that both Dutch and Spanish are very rude, but I think that it's due to our directness and expressive character. 😂😉 Ik hou van Nederland en Nederlandse mensen. 🇳🇱

A friend of mine would always create increasingly longer strings of swearwords the more he got frustrated and he flowed them out like a rapper that was pretty funny :') I mean most of them are awful words but the way he did it was hillarious xD "Godhoerigekutkankerbloedsterftiefus" is one of the lines that stuck with me in particular :') He's the only person I know that consistently uses bloedsterf as a swearword xD Always together as well as if it's a real composite word :p

Funnily enough, I was having a conversation today about swear words in Dutch. I'm personally a fan of old swear words that barely anyone uses anymore, like knuppel, oelewapper, minkukel, knurft and so on. You're still getting the meaning out there, but since it's so old fashioned it's also a bit funny, so barely anyone gets offended by it. It's great if you want to swear but still be perceived as nice. xD

And if you don't know her- you could never ever be 100% certain about anything in her life. Including what she did or didn't come up with. I am so fucking DONE with people pretending to be GOD himself. "Uhuh I'm on the internet I know everythi-" *no you don't!* Every single thing had to be created by something. Including phrases. If you don't know people, you can never be sure that they didn't come up with anything. Everyone comes up with something in their lives. And saying that it existed before she thought of it is not a solid argument. She can still have thought of it on her own without seeing it before. Don't act like you know it all. Ugh.

I remember my shock when I heard the disease one. When you call someone "b...." you know that it's not for real, but when you call someone "a cancer sufferer" it can happen one day and it's not his/her fault. I still feel sad when I think about it.

its just pathetic that people are using that as a swear word. But some people are showing that it is not okay to use that word but those who are using it are often reacting angry about it "its childish" apparently to show that its wrong to use that word. And mostly they compare it with the stupidest things like "If my mom died in a car accident im not crying about the word car" pff it's just so sad.

Well, as a Dutch person im very ashamed of some words people use over here...for instance..i rarely use the word cancer as a curse word(i might have once or twice but felt pretty bad afterwards) Very common words are 'kak' 'shit' 'verdomme' or well..'kut'..the latter two i will only use if im around people that i know for sure wont be offended. Curse words can be used in a funny way too, a lot of comedians do for instance. Shit and kak are not so bad in my opinion though...those are the innocent ones. :)

Na dat kinderen ietsje ouder worden vanaf 10 ofzo verander kut vaak in kanker. Het is voor veel mensen een stopwoordje dat nauwlijks betekenis heeft. Ik weet niet waar jij woont maar in en om amsterdam is het erg gewoon.
