People asking how to relax under the water... . People should notice first few things... . When in still position and only holding breath... Observe how long you can hold your breath... When there's someone out on the surface.... Making movements in the water... You'll feel that you're gonna get panicked... That's the feeling we have to control... . . Just that thing you feel in your mind when water around you is moving... Control it... You'll know how to swim longer after that...once you control that feeling... You'll see how easily you'll be able to go longer and farther underwater... RELAX❤️... . Edit:... Speed and distance you shouldn't be thinking about at all...think about it peace... Shoot my goal is to go 25 m underwater with 1 breath . I’m surprise this is this hard for me as I practice wim hof breath work but man oh man land breath holds are way different than breath holds under water. But my swimming is weak anyways . This is a good video though. It looks like probably I use way to many arm strokes. Not sure how to get far without them and also my body floats back to the top Of the water quickly if I’m not using legs and arms to move. I’m going to try this tomorrow when i practice some drills .

Make sure you pay attention to your vision. You can black out under water easily and although you will be needing to breath, you may not feel as uncomfortable as you would think. Basically, if your vision begins to go black in the slightest, surface immediately. It is one of the common ways people die while training to swim. It can happen even if you feel like you can keep going for longer before taking a breath.

@jjjjjj1135 That’s not how it works. Just because you can hold your breathe longer than him doesn’t mean you can do it when you’re in the water. You are most likely doing nothing right now so it’s easier to hold your breath. While the guy swimming is actively exercising so he it is harder for him to hold his breath.

These tips were super helpful, helped me pass an underwater swim test for a lifeguarding course! For anyone else looking for tips, it's really mind over matter. The diaphragm contractions are freaky and will likely stress you out, and definitely don't push yourself too hard, but most of the time you can ignore them for a few seconds. It's also very difficult to practise this skill, so make sure to take lots of breaks in between dives to replenish your body with oxygen.

Only thing I learned in high school study hall was how to hold my breath for 2 minutes. That part is as much mental as it is physical. Other than that, with a total inhale, you need to be at neutral bouyancy, or how ever you spell that one.... 3 strokes for 25 yards is pretty good.... Okay, excellent.
@davesmith56563 жыл бұрын
Neutral buoyancy is a big part of it. Divers use weight belts. Swimming isn't "natural" for humans, so it must be studied. Water resistance is highest at the surface, so underwater is easier. And technique is a huge part of it all (stroke and breathing), with very slight improvements making a big difference in times.

Your lungs are making you float. The air in your body is making you more buoyant and making you float. One tip is to stay in a tight streamline so you sink more because your weight gets more focused and try to stay even and level in the water, where your body points in the water is where you go, so make sure to focus on technique, I’m not a professional by any means nor do I free-dive but I swim competitively so I know about my underwaters

@xtherealest Жыл бұрын
Kind of a hard question. There's a lot of factors. It depends on how much muscle you have, how much fat do you have, how much air do you get before you dive. Some people wear weight belts either around their hips or around their neck so they stay at the bottom and don't float. I don't know why you float but it might also be because your positioning in the water is wrong. If you float a lot you might want to have your head tilted more to the bottom of the pool so while you swim forward you also get pulled down a bit as you swim. Or maybe just don't fill up your lungs all the way up and you'll probably be able to swim a longer distance because you won't be struggling to stay under the surface.

@@xtherealest thanks for all the advice, I think I need to lose a lot of fat for sure, even if I just stand like a pencil, arms bu my side head up and stiff as a baor, my head stays just above the surface without a weight belt so I have positive bouyancy

@@LowlyEidolon That might be jt. Don't give up. Once you get the technique down it's very satisfying to just glide through the water. You relax as much as possible and just don't think about anything and just swim slowly. Do a low amount of strokes so you don't waste oxygen and you can swim a pretty long distance if you practise some breath holding for a bit. I don't go to the pool at all now but in school instead of PE we go swimming and last Thursday it was our first lesson of swimming and one of the things we did was swimming one breath only so the teacher could see how far will we get and the last time I was swimming one breath was on a vacation in Egypt and that was in August so I had no idea how will it go after such a long time with no practise but it went great. I did the 25m pool on one breath without any issues and the teacher was surprised and to be honest I was kinda surprised too haha. I used to dive in Egypt and I didn't do bad. I would freedive with the long freedive fins and I could swim for like a minute under the water while being like 10m deep. I once managed to do 50 meters without fins in a pool on one breath but I was training at that time. Now I can do a bit more than a half of the 50 meters but it's fine. I'll get the 50 meters back. 💪 Good luck next time at the pool. It's 10:30 pm rn for me and tomorrow in the morning the first 2 hours of school is PE so we go swimming again so wish me luck. :)

And there is another thing that is important but rarely seen: Perform proper recovery breathing (At least 3 Breaths) *before* you give your ok sign!

Does he swim with weights? I can swim 30-40m underwater and i want to make at least 50m. You can't swim with full lungs because you will float

How do I stay below the surface without using weights? When I try to do this I keep floating up to the surface which ruins my leg kicks... Any advice is appreciated.

If you don´t use weights, then you do not have many choices. Maybe one - to exhale just enought to float above the bootom of the pool.But this guy in vides does use weight - two actually. One on his hip-belt and then he also uses neck-weight. You can see it at 2:15. HTH

When freediving(swimming underwater) we use neck weights or weight belts to set our buoyancy so that it's neutral in specific depth
