Your 60 SPM stroke looks very efficient. I've been using the tempo trainer to try building up to a higher threshold pace while keeping my number of strokes per length constant.

@@SWIMVICE hi Mandy/SV - I have bursitis in my shoulder and arthritis in my c-spine Shoulder: I can’t lengthen that far either forward or back during catch and pull phases. Neck: I can’t turn my head that far either side so breathing position isn’t the best, I can’t quite get my head to rest near my shoulder. Besides using a snorkel, is there anything I can do to improve this? I breathe bilaterally usually every 3. If I’m really trying, I can do 1km frontcrawl under 40 minutes (my pb is 29 minutes but since improving my technique I’ve dropped to 36 minutes, go figure. I somehow have always used a 2 beat kick, anything higher tires me out. I do not do flip turns as they aggravate my vertigo. Thank you!

Thank you for clarifying! Yes, the snorkel and using a 2BK is very beneficial. I would continue with this. Do you feel you swim faster and more efficiently with the snorkel? Also, have you had your freestyle filmed underwater (or above)? I would be able to give a much more accurate answer based on your specifics. Best, CM

Interesting how you change your breathing cycles. Looks like 2, 2, 4 for most o fit, but some times I think I counted 2, 2, 2, 4, and some times a 3, 3. 2, 2.

Yes, I breathe when I feel like it but I typically gravitate to 2’s and 4’s for the majority of the time. I’ll breathe on a third stroke to switch to the other side if needed.

Hi Mandy, I'm in rehab recovering from my ACL surgery (torn knee ligament). Can I still swim freestyle without kicking my legs?
@SWIMVICE
@SWIMVICE Жыл бұрын
Hello Mac, great question! Definitely, you would focus on relaxing your legs but keeping your glutes engaged. Also, wearing neoprene shorts will help with some added buoyancy avoiding using a pull buoy. Much more effective 👍🏼✅. I have a new quick tip video coming soon on this subject. Stay tuned and hope your practice is going well! Best, Coach Mandy

Yes, it is clear that you are both right-handed and left-handed. But my question is you because the left side is your habit and preference. are you left handed It means you write with your left hand. Do you use your left hand when writing? From a scientific point of view, is the preferred side of breathing related to whether a swimmer is right-handed or left-handed?

Are you swimming a 2BK or are your legs lower than the rest of your body line?
@sumeetkeluskar5589
@sumeetkeluskar5589 2 жыл бұрын
i am new to swiming i have seen your videos how to rotate , yu mentio n swim by hip initially i was struggling to rotate so i started rotating thru hips but i realised it legs are not involved and I think i am getting bit slower also i don't know if my legs sink. its a initial stage that's why it is slow?
@SWIMVICE
@SWIMVICE 2 жыл бұрын
@@sumeetkeluskar5589 Thank you for clarifying! When you mentioned that your legs don’t get involved it can mean two separate things. I want to be sure to answer correctly. Yes, swimming from your hips is exactly what you want to prioritize to connect your rotation as this is the primary focus for economy of movement. My kick naturally switches between and 2B and 4B in the middle of the distance and I gravitate towards a light, 6B. If I swim a 2B the whole way, it’s still under 1:20. I have this detailed inside the SWIMVICE Kickstart program going through this topic. I would advise to have your freestyle filmed to see what’s going on to be sure your legs aren’t disengaged. Even swimming with a 2BK, your legs are light but activated within the body line. ✅ Best, CM

I started from July 1 last year and spent 40/50 minutes 6 to 7 days a week. I was new to swimming and self learned free style. As of today (just back from pool), I hardly ever cause splash or disturbance. It took a long time to get left side breathing right without sinking legs or dropping arms.

Hello, you breathe more from the left side in both methods. are you left handed
@SWIMVICE
@SWIMVICE 2 жыл бұрын
It just my preferred side but can easily breathe on both and I do. I have other videos demonstrating this point. For distance, I stick to breathing on 2’s and 4’s. I use 3 or 1 to switch to the other side. ✅

@SWIMVICE 2 жыл бұрын
@@علیکوثری-ن1ص no, not really. I’m not sure about the science to back up being ambidextrous or not. Honestly, it switches sides from my experience. For example, I would breathe over my right shoulder for both swims in a EC relay (swimming hour long time frames) where the skipper or the boat directing me was located on my right side. Everyone has a preferred side but the key is to be able to switch when needed. ✅

@SWIMVICE
@SWIMVICE Жыл бұрын
If you are too tense then yes, it is tiring. Key is to relax your flutter kick at a higher tempo. This makes 6bk easier to maintain. You can learn and discover new ways to improve your technique with each kick pattern. Each one serves a purpose in a unique way. Enjoy your practice! 🙌🏼✅ Best, Coach Mandy
