@gregoryhong70783 жыл бұрын
@@NickWagers-ln8ec handicap is a type of food
@interestedbystander1963 жыл бұрын
@@NickWagers-ln8ec Hi Nick. A handicap is a kind of "rating" that golfers get to say how many shots they are allowed per hole to make their own personal par. Par is the expected number of shots to get the ball in the hole (e.g. a par three hole allows you three shots as standard, a par five allows five shots as standard, and so on). Where handicap comes into it is when a player is allowed an extra shot, or sometimes even two shots, on top of the standard par for the hole. So, for them, a par four hole might actually be rated as a par five (or even a par six). Really good golfers have a low handicap (often a single digit number like a 4 or a 7, say), while golfers who are less skilled might have bigger numbers like 18, 22, 27, 36, etc. The handicap number itself tells you how many extra shots you are allowed over an entire round of 18 holes. Where you are allowed to add these extra shots is based on the difficulty rating of the holes on that specific golf course, which will vary from course to course. So a player with a handicap of, say, 6 will get an extra shot on the six most difficult holes on that course, and the rest of the holes will have to be played as the standard par. The reason for a having handicaps is to allow players of different abilities to compete against each other on a reasonably fair basis. So extending my example above, let's say the 6 handicap player was against a 16 handicapper. The 16 handicapper gets an extra shot, compared to standard par, on the most difficult 16 holes (which includes the 6 holes that the other player gets). But that means the 16 handicapper gets ten extra shots across the round, when compared to the 6 handicap player. The 16 player has an extra shot on ten additional holes, to make up for the difference in skill level. As you get better, your handicap reduces, meaning your extra shot "allowance" reduces. The very best players have a handicap of zero (0), which is known as "scratch" (because you don't write a number, but you just make scratch through the area where you would write your handicap). Scratch golfers get no shot allowance at all, and have to play the whole course as designed. To be a scratch golfer is one of the Holy Grails of golf, and is up there with getting a hole in one. Don't worry about trying to figure out your handicap, though. There are plenty of apps freely available to do that for you, just by entering your scorecard for the course. And it's probably more hassle than it's worth to understand the math of how it works when you're still new to the game. Hope this helps. Hit 'em straight, friend.

Absolutely stellar instructions Rick. I am a newbie myself, and have been aimlessly going to driving ranges trying to work on my swing, but nothing was working. I could not swing for anything, and I probably hit the ball every 1 out of 10 swings. Like I said before, I had no idea how to swing, foot placement, hand placement, the whole deal. After watching this video a couple times and actually practicing the grip, as well as practicing my swing while you break it down in real time, completely changed my swing for the better. I went to the range after seeing this video and I was CRUSHING balls, more constantly and farther than ever before. You have gained a loyal subscriber. Thank you for the tips!

This is the worst disconnected arm swing you could teach anyone. Ball contact is the most important thing in golf and you're teaching to aim at a tee peg? Wrong. Better to teach chop down on the ball leading with the bottom L of the club. This leads to better contact with ball and hands turnover naturally through impact, giving a nice draw and give it and follow through.

Rick, everyone can benefit from this lesson. New players and better players who wander away from the fundamentals. Good stuff.
