Hey Rick, do you feel that certain grips can make hitting fades and draws easier as well? I've had some inconsistent success with strong grips helping me hit a fade and weaker grips for a draw, but I've never focused on slightly closing the face at address. Thanks again for the great lesson

That's awesome... and realistic, I hate when "golf Pros" on KZbin use outrageous thumbnails saying you will take 10 strokes off of your game by this one simple trick.. I feel like those channels should be demonetized, or at least have to rename their videos because they hardly ever disclaim that their tips and tricks will only help 1 out of 100 people do what they said.

Hi Rick, just wanted to thank you. Some years ago I was a 4,5 hcp player, but I stopped playing because I lost the joy an fun in golf. I put myself under way too much pressure and seceded to quit… untill almost a year ago a buddy of mine started golfing and asked me to join him. I refused many times, but eventually I gave in and joined him for some holes. And I had fun again! The fun in golfing also oozes out of your KZbin contributions. I really enjoy your content and also the fact that you sometimes miss a shot. That makes you really human an like the rest of us! More important, you really enjoy what you do. And that is a great inspiration for me! Getting slowly back into the game! If you ever consider to visit the Netherlands, I would be very hounoured to take you for a round at my homecourse Cromstrijen. Warm regards and keep up the good work! Wkr Lodewijk

The club face set up is eye opening for me. I was always told to pre-aim the face at the end target (so the flag etc.) but would either find myself over working and missing left with draws or right with fades. I can't wait to try the idea of still aiming slightly left/right of the end target with my clubface and then committing to the shot shapes and hopefully see them a bit more accurate than before.

My thought process for these shots: Low: narrow stance, ball back 1-2 balls from normal, low hand finish High: Ball up 1-2 balls, high hand finish Fade: Aim club where I want fade to start, body aimed twice as left of clubhead. Focus on path along toeline. Occasionally ball up in stance. Draw: same as fade but out to right and occasionally ball back.

Hey Rick! Love this one. I have a question with the low shot, how come we reduce the loft of the club with our swing and hit soft rather than choosing a lower lofted club (say going from a 7 to a 5 iron) and still swinging softer? Are there any advantages to keeping the same club?
@bramabull111
@bramabull111 3 жыл бұрын
You absolutely can if that is your feel shot. I am assuming that it's just because mid irons have a shorter shaft and more bounce than a long iron. Which would make it more controllable and forgiving. When you are taking off loft with the hands forward you are also taking off bounce. Taking a 7 over a 5 will give you an extra 2 degrees average of bounce to help through the turf. The 5 iron shot has more margin for error theoretically but if you feel good with it and your dispersion is good, that's what really matters

Simply work on the draw set up from this video (add in his “Stop your slice” video). If you can get into that position, it is impossible to slice the ball. I found that I would think about way too many things, and now approach swings with ONE primary “swing thought”. Rick emphasizing keeping the head of the club behind the body on downswing helped me get more inside and stop my “over the top” move. Practice is the key, and good luck!

Excellent video. Thanks for sharing. I have a slice so the Draw is worth learning....back to the Driving Range. Appreciate your step-by-step instruction; clear and straightforward. Easy to understand.

Rick...very nice ....this is exactly how I teach these shots.....good feedback...appreciated....There is a distance factor that each of these shots creates to compensate for slightly using the same club.... Enjoyed the 70 pound club set video with your friend....fun.....the utility wood shot was most impressive to the par five

I was easily 120s+ circa 6 months ago however bit of practise, playing with friendly mates and your vids = got me to mid 90s. Bootiful ! (ps Iv renamed it to Bump n Grind referring back to my uni days in the late 90s!)

After yearsss and years of hitting a slice, and then only a fade naturally. And trying hard to correct it properly past 3 seasons....i can finally now hit a nice controlled draw most of the time when i try to and its feels absolutely magnificent! Especially with long irons off the tee on needed holes. Its actually hard to hit a fade now when i want....unless i just miss hit it.

Mostly I'm just trying to hit the ball dead straight....but you really made this fade/draw setup easy to understand. I'll definitely have to work on developing this more.

Tried a new swing this year cause of my weird overlap bone issue in my shoulder and I'm finally hitting 300 straight and I actually hit a draw for the first time ever, no idea how I did it but I think I'm starting to control it a bit more now lol. I got that active 2 golf edition watch from Samsung and omg I love that watch! It helps so much and its like extremely precise in where I am on the course, I highly recommend it!

Good instructional video.My normal ball flight is a draw to help me keep my hands and arms "quiet" on a fade I slightly rotate my right hand under the club.Most high handicap golfers that hit slices I have noticed that their right hand is rotated under the club and have suggested to many of them to grip the club with their right hand rotated more over the top,it often times has corrected their slice.

Great video rick! I’ve been learning how to shape my shots, I can hit a fade pretty much on command but my draw doesn’t curve how I want it to, that helped a lot!! Great visuals
