You are the FIRST guy who says that ALSO THE CAMERA records audio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just watch about 50 videos in youtube: NOBODY ELSE remember to say that ESSENTIAL point! That means that the syncronization is NOT from video to audio, but from AUDIO to AUDIO! The CAMERA audio syncs with the RECORDER audio. Therefore, TWO AUDIO CLIPS are needed. But I have a question: what to do if you have ONLY a video clip (without any audio), and a audio clip, and they are out of sync? What are the best techniques to manually sync that video (without any audio), with the audio from the recorder? That is my situation...
@rapiddooda6 жыл бұрын
Have you tried using any of the editing suites such as Windows Movie Maker. Import video and audio files and simply drag the audio file to where you want it.
@BleepingRelics6 жыл бұрын
I would try elastic audio in pro tools and make a painful exercice named "dentelle" to sync everything. recognizing lipsyncing, percussive noises, etc. Of course the best way is to use a clap to get at least in sync at the start.

Matching audio to audio makes so much sense, and yet wasn't an intuitive thought that came to my mind. I gave up on recording the audio separate for a while because I got tired of matching audio to the visual. When I saw you do this I thought DUH, but it wasn't something that I even really thought of. Thank you!!

Thanks for the video. You just saved me some money. I would like to point out that, when speaking at a greater distance from the camera, you will have to match up the exact moment of the hands clapping together (from the video file) to the sound spikes on the audio file. An example would be if you were shooting a person across the street from the camera when doing a travelogue or some such. You have to compensate for the difference between the speed of light versus the speed of sound.

This is excellent. As many times as I've seen movies with the take 1, take 2, etc...> I had no idea that's what was going on. More importantly, this explains how I need to since my 8 track recording with my video camera. I was thinking I would have to record the audio directly to the video camera so they would be synced. This simple and I can do it in Cyberlink my editing software. thanks.

THANK YOU! I've always had the toughest time trying to sync audio and video, which is why I would record the audio from my bass in Garageband at the same time as the screenflow recording, keeping them perfectly in sync. Now I can record separately, and continue to edit the audio after the fact (something that wasn't always easy, or sometimes even possible) with Screenflow. You're awesome, and I'm sharing this right now :)

Thank you so much!!!! You perfectly answered my problem with a perfectly explained solution in a simple and easy to understand way that was straight to the point. Thank you! Now I know what those clap boards are for haha. You know what else works? Tapping the space bar (kills 2 birds with one stone because you can use the space bar to play audio and the built in mic on your computer will also pick it up) I'm using that method to record music performance videos with Photo Booth and then recording audio separately and then syncing them up. This tutorial really helped to tie it all together thanks again.

I have done this before, the beginning looked fine but a few minutes into the video the audio and the video weren't as well synced, why is this? Have you experienced this problem before?
@JonathanAcosta102010 жыл бұрын
Will Fletcher - Yes. Audio and video coming out of sync happens because the frame rate from your camera and the "frame rate" of an audio device are mathematically different. So at some point through the footage, you end up getting video that looks faster than the separately recorded audio. To fix this, you need to process your video through a program that will make up for the frame rate difference. If you have Final Cut X or Premiere, they should have that feature built in. And if those are too complicated or expensive, you can always download DreamSync. It's built to do exactly what you're trying to do. Good luck!

Hi, do you know, if it is possible to align thousands of pics, which are only 0.3 seconds long to thousands of markers in a long audio track automatically ? Say I have a music track with beat detection and 2000 markers, how do I align 2000 pictures automatically to these marker points ? To do it all manually would be a real pain... Is there any trick how to do this ? Many thanks. Regards, Stefan.
@xochipeli58755 жыл бұрын
Hi Charles, thought you may want to look in settings both in Screen Flow and Final cut preferences or options, usually in a pop up or drop down menu there's a setting for snap to accuracy on timelines especially for audio. in your demonstration the zoom audio spike wouldn't align perfectly on the timeline with the cam audio spike the (usually called snap to) setting could be adjusted down to a closer tolerance. It looked like it was set on default(which isn't very tight. Check it out, you should be able to line up the top tip of both audio spikes exactly. just saying :)

@DarkdeviI725 That's a good point. An external audio recorder will give you much better sound, especially for your guitar. Your internal camera mic will probably be your worst enemy but as an alternative you could pick up a "Rode Videomic" for fairly inexpensive and that should get you by for now.

@DavidFrazier100 Thanks for the question Dave. Yeah you can use any format of audio and sync it the same way I showed in this video, I actually record my audio in wav. I then import my original video clip and the new wav file and sync them up in Final Cut Pro (but your software will work as well). Hope that helps

@BleepingRelics6 жыл бұрын
Yes you sync it the right way but you shouldn't delete the audio from the camera because it is still the only audio 100% synced to the picture (just mute that track or make it inactive). The reason why you cannot match the 2 audios totally is because the grid is frame based (so it is not a bug), you can only move your audio frame by frame, common for most video editing softwares. This e.g. means that if you can export an omf of your video editing you will be able to import your sound (in multi-track) to an audio editing software where you will be able to sync the audio at its maximum possible: on an audio samplerate based grid (which means that you will be able to move your clip with a precision of 1/48000 per second of timeline if you recorded in 48khz). If this makes sense...

Easy when you know how .. I assumed you simply watched for the clap to take place, then move the audio file as required. This method is far easier and of course more accurate too. So far I have only made 'non speaking' videos buty now fancy adding audio too and was thinking about using an old phone (iphone 8.. wife just upgraded) for the audio, with a lapel mic and my phone for the video, then adding them together. Seems pretty easy. Regards !
