I have Pilot2ATC and was looking to add Global Traffic but, was wondering about the integration and synch'ing. Came across your vid looking for answers. Thanks for sharing your experiences and solutions. I'm not sure when Traffic Global was updated for GA aircraft (after this vid) but, I imagine the same synch challenges still exist in the latest update. CYYZ - nice choice :)

There is an option in P2ATC that allows you to select which runway you want. I think it's something you have to uncheck something like "p2atc auto selects active/departure/arrival runways". It allows you to always select which runway at every airport. Then you have to select a runway in your flight plan based on the flow you see in traffic global. For arrival airport, if it's a long flight and the arrival airport is outside the TG map, just pick a possible arrival runway. As you get within 100 miles the TG map should be able to display your arrival airport and show you which runways are in use. If it's not the one you had planned, use p2atc request arrival runway dialogue. Then you can update the flight plan and fmc or just request vectors to arrival runway.

Thanks for your reply. There is a check box in P2atc that says "Force Pilot Runway Selection". At the time I made the video, this didn't work. It would still change departure runway when you filed flight plan. I haven't checked if it works lately. Maybe it has been fixed. I'll try it again. I have had feedback from others that said it seemed to work in Europe but not North America. I don't know. It is frustrating if you can't align departures with traffic global. I think the latest version of traffic global also does not change departing and arriving runways if you custom change the wind direction.

@@bobblack4604 That's strange. I have had P2ATC for probably 3 years or so and it has always worked for me. I have always aligned my flight plans manually with the weather engines and/or traffic pluggins. Since traffic global seems to have a mind of it's own, I align P2ATC to what TG wants. In the P2ATC "Config"/settings here are some things I have set that may help contribute to what I am saying. I never had a problem and I have flown on every continent. - uncheck P2ATC provides ATIS. On the Flt Pln page/tab ATC Options I have everything unchecked except _Force Pilot Runway selection and Match SIM Runway if known. Everything else is unchecked. And it worked for more than 3 years here. I always select my departures and arrival runways manually as well as my SIDs and even my STARS and approaches. The thing is TG does sometimes change runways in use and sometimes at the arrival airport while you are in flight. That adds an element of fun and is real because then you have to reprogram your MCDU/FMC and also reprogram your flight plan in P2atc and request a new arrival runway. You can find out the flow by opening the TG map and scrolling to your arrival airport. But you have to be within around 100 miles. Hope that helps. It already worked at the time of your video and still works today.

@@vasily2022 Thank you I will have to try some of your tweaks as changing the wind direction in xplane configuration no longer changes arriving and departing runway for Traffic Global. As the old saying goes "If you can't beat them join them" -LOL

@@vasily2022 I tried your setup but it doesn't work. Every time I file the flight plan, it changes the departure runway even though I have "force pilot runway selection" and don't have anything else checked. It could be airport eccentric which is why I received reports from other pilots with the same issue. I have some custom airports I like to fly out of. I don't know it that's the problem or not. I'll experiment with different airports and wind settings but "Force Pilot Runway Selection" doesn't work at least on certain airports. I used to be able to get around it by forcing Traffic Global to align to wind direction but that doesn't work anymore either.

I finally have the solution. It has nothing to do with the configuration settings. When you are setting up your SID, however, there is a little checkbox I hadn't noticed before that says "Force Dep Rwy". If you select that, it will not change your departure runway when you file your flight plan. If you don't it will use the departing runway that is stated in the airport information tab no matter what your configuration is. It's only taken me 4 years to figure this out- LOL

Thanks Bob, finally you gave me a solution on this.
@bobblack46044 жыл бұрын
Yes it can be annoying with planes coming at you down the runway while you're trying to take off.
@dannywalsh8404 жыл бұрын
When you set your SID you can select your choice of runway then check the box force runway and then it won’t change your selection.
@bobblack46044 жыл бұрын
Yes it should but I have found it doesn't always work on some airports. When you go to file your flight it changes it- even though it shouldn't and I have force runway selected. Maybe it's a glitch with one of the airports.

Hi bob I was using an airport in Europe, i didn’t experience the issue but now I switch to a US airport and it happens. Must be a bug.
@bobblack46044 жыл бұрын
@@dannywalsh840 Yes it is likely a bug or it could be some definition in the airport design. At any rate if you can't beat them - join them- which is why changing the wind direction and velocity in Xplane will align it with Pilot2ATC

Hey Bob, do you like GT better than WT3?
@bobblack46044 жыл бұрын
I do as there is nothing to set up- it just works and Pilot2ATC recognizes the AI aircraft and will give appropriate ATC instructions. It is also easy to tell what landing and departing runways are being used and it is easy to change the runways to conform to what Pilot2ATC considers the active runways.

Pilot2atc is so expensive. Is it worth it?
@bobblack4604 Жыл бұрын
I find it definitely worth it. It has such a range of features other than voice communication with ATC. You can plan your flights, track your flights on the map, airport layouts, track your taxi routes, atc chatter. I can't think of flying without it. It increases the immersion experience 10 fold especially if you have multiple monitors as you set it up on a separate monitor.

Thanks Bob, I tend to use VR these days which is why I like the option of voice interaction. Does it have any VFR procedures?
