Adding Free Voices to Pilot2ATC

This tutorial will show you how to add Free Voices to Pilot2ATC for all the controllers. Works for Windows 10 and 11.

Thanks for the guide! After a little tinkering I've somehow updated it. 1. Go to Windows Settings / Time and Language / Language. Press "Add a Language" and choose all that have TTS symbol next to it -- text bubble out of computer monitor. You'll have to click each language, press Next and tick Text-to-Speech option, others are not necessary. Then click Install and wait for the installation to end. This way you'll have all the voices. Bear in mind that some controllers have really heavy accents. It's actually realistic, but if you aren't up for a challenge, install only versions of English, maybe German, French, Russian and Italian. 2. Open Regedit as in video, find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech_OneCore\Voices\Tokens\, but instead of exporting each voice separately you can export all Tokens branch, it will include all the voices. 3. Open exported file with Notepad as in video, press Ctrl+H (Replace), in "Find what" field enter "_OneCore" (without quotation marks, ofc), in "Replace with" enter nothing (make sure it's really nothing, not space). It will remove all _OneCore's. Save and merge as in video. Now (re)start Pilot2ATC and choose individual voices for each controller. If you prefer to use random voices, assign them as described in the manual, or close Pilot2ATC, open %appdata%\P2A_200\Settings (folder is hidden by default) and edit ATCVoices.xml with Notepad (better Notepad++). You can use my file pastebin.com/WUiMT49S just add/delete voices that aren't installed on your system. Start Pilot2ATC now and make sure you have a huuuuge list of random voices available. Now there's a problem: you have MANY installed input languages. And if you uninstall them, you'll loose the voices too! There's a workaround though. Go back to Regedit, Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Preload, and remove all the entries you don't need. Most people need only English (US) input and their local one. They are coded as string values: name is the number in order, data is the locale id. E.g. English US is 1 and 00000409. To find all the locales, go to learn.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/default-input-locales-for-windows-language-packs?view=windows-11 and look for the code in the third column, it looks like (xxxx:CODE) for each language. After all the editing, you shoud have 2-3 string entries in Preload branch, each numbered in order 1, 2, 3 and with corresponding locale ids for value. Logout from Windows and log back in. Some eastern languages might not be removed this way, you'll have to uninstall them. Don't forget to test all the voices inside Pilot2ATC!

Wonderful! Thanks so much for this video. Between the voices I downloaded from Microsoft and several that were already present in the registry but not accessible to P2ATC, I added ten new voices. It took only a short time to do it and didn't cost a cent.

Just came late to the party and purchased Pilot2ATC. Tried screwing around with Amazon Polly, what a waste of time that was. Ended up uninstalling it all. Then I found this!! Woaaaahh! Just what I was looking for! Thankyou so much. I now have 21 voices lol. All free. And some of them are actually REALLY good. I can go ANY flight without listening to any repeat voices. This is just SO COOL now. Bye bye MSFS ATC 4EVA...

I've only just started with Pilot2ATC. Until I came across this video, I had no idea that so many voices were already available on my PC after installing several English language packs. Great! Had added a few voices to Windows but didn't know why P2ATC show them. Now I have that variety! A point worth mentioning especially for those not used to playing around with the registry, is to back it first. In regedit just go to file/export and given the .reg a name (or date as I do). This is a great video. Additional voices have been added in the registry and I can choose any of them as the default voice for Windows 10. Sadly though I only see a couple of them in Pilot2ATC.

Thanks for this easy to apply tutorial ! There's an even simpler method : export the whole "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech_OneCore\Voices\Tokens" key instead of exporting the voices one by one, search and replace "Speech_OneCore\" with "Speech\" in the whole file, import it and voilà !

Yes I can't take credit for the trick. I can't remember where I found it. I know it took a lot of searching a couple of years ago and the instructions were so confusing that it would make it difficult for anyone to do so I tried to simplify it.

Absolutely. Use the Navigraph FMS Data Manager and add Pilot2ATC to the list of items to update.

Not as far as I know. I am using v 2.6.1.3 and have all the voices. I haven't tried adding any new voices in awhile as I have all I need but all the voices I downloaded previously work. I don't think anything has changed.

Unfortunately, this excellent tutorial will not work with Win11, since there is no longer a MERGE option in Win11. Would any of you serious geeks out there know of a work-around to merge folders? There used to be a way to restore the Win10 Explorer into Win11, but Microsoft seems to have removed that trick because it no longer works now.

Hi can you help with exporting a flight plan to Xplane11 so i can import to the GNS530 when using a Beechcraft Baron B58, i've tried endlessley with no luck, every thing i have found is for 737 or the like, no video for GA .. Thanks for the help with the voices thats great... just wish i could use P2A on Baron!

Baron Beechcraft GN530 uses the standard .fms format for flight plans found in the directory x-plane11\Output\FMS plans\ . I'm not sure what you are having trouble with? Importing a flight plan into Pilot2ATC or exporting from Pilot2ATC to an .fms file to be used by the Beechcraft?

I spent over 3 hours trying to configure my Pilot2ATC to my liking, and the voice issue was an extremely difficult thing to find a fix for. Your tutorial might've come a little later than I wanted... but man did you come through! Free, different voices to make pilot2atc really come alive! Kudos

Thanks for the great tutorial. I had the same issue as many that after following this guide. P2A could still not see the voices. Just delete or rename C:\Users\(YOUR-USER-NAME)\AppData\Roaming\P2A_200 And start P2A again then the voices are there. I think it would be enough just to delete C:\Users\(YOUR-USER-NAME)\AppData\Roaming\P2A_200\Settings\ATCVoices.XML But I could not test this. If you delete or rename C:\Users\(YOUR-USER-NAME)\AppData\Roaming\P2A_200 all your P2A settings will be gone. so make a backup :)

Thanks for putting the video together. I tried with the AU language package that gave me Catherine and James. The names show up in the P2A voice config folder and can be selected, but they remain silent during the test. When trying to use them in xplane, they are replaced by one of the 2 Windows voices. I am using the trial version of P2A, could that be the explanation? Thanks, in advance!

i followed every step to the letter, mine didn't work. I had a _isolated entry where yours had the word token? in the registry? Claude never populated in the drop down menu of Pilot2 ATC.. so frustrating....

Sorry to hear you are having problems. Did the voice install? Are there other voices in the registry .. voices\tokens\?, did you export the file, edit it , save it and execute? I haven't heard of anyone that it didn't work for.

Thanks, helpful video and answered an issue I was experiencing adding voices I had downloaded! Microsoft Mark is the most clear out of the lot I think... but opted for random. Do you use any other ATC add-ons to increase realism Bob?
