I remember when my baby Isis was this young. Her mother abandoned her at only 4 days old. She was a neonatal kitten and I didn't have the wonder nipple or syringe. So I used eye droppers. I used cotton balls as well to help her use the bathroom. I also used to sleep on the couch and had her sleep on my chest with a heating pad. Years later she's my sweet baby girl. She's almost 8 now.

why would you name your cat isis
@ladydais7 жыл бұрын
Nutto she's in her teens now. I named her after the Egyptian Goddess because of her strength and will to survive. Had I known her name would have been associated with a terror group a few years later after I named her I would have named her something else.

I feel so bad because I once rescued a 4 week old kitten out of a machine at a chicken farm. The farmer said: "just throw a rock on it so we can work further and it won't destroy the machine". I screamed in his face that he's an awful animal abuser and I quited the job emediatly. I then took the kitten in a vest that I wrapped around him. I then fed it till it grew up with "catmilk". I now heared in the video that that's not good for a kitten. I'm glad that I know that now. The kitten has survived very well and has become a strong little fella. :) thanks for the video kitten lady. Cats are my everything

I have never kept account of how much I feed my newborn kittens. I go by how much they are peeing and pooping. However I have been taking care of orphans for a local rescue for almost 20 years so it is is almost instinctual. I also ended up with a litter of newborns that were given goats milk, they seemed to do better than KMR fed kittens, far less bowel issues and their poops were not foul smelling and have been using it ever since. Goat milk is an acceptable choice as is KMR. Thank you for your videos, I think that your advice is expert and a real help for people who are new to this. Kittens under 3 or 4 weeks need round the clock care and it is a real challenge to keep them alive. I wish I had access to videos like yours when I was a new kitten foster mom.

Sadly, the shelter that I was working with didn't know how to take care of kittens so I had to figure it out on my own. But your videos have taught be a better, more efficent way to raise kittens. I just wanna thank you for doing this video. Our cat was killed by the dogs of our neighbor and left 2 kittens that she just gave birth for about 6 hours . I'm not at home and when I arrived I was shocked. I saw the cat lying in the grass lifeless. Then mom told me what happened because she saw it. But they're too old to go there and those dogs are fierce . I don't know what yo do with the kittens but surely I wanna take care of them. Thankfully I saw this video. This is the least I can do for their mother. Their mother was neighbors cat. But she stays with us, we feed her and treat her as our own. Now I promised her that I'll do my best to take care of the kittens.

@@teresacamp Thanks! I checked in on him this afternoon and he is gaining weight and doing great! "Peanut" absolutely hated the bottle that I got from Walmart, but it wasn't like I had a bunch of choices. Using the bottle is more like waterboarding a kitten rather than feeding it until they get bigger. So that was his only meal. My major contribution was keeping him warm by holding him. I was up for 30 hours. :) Weirdly we have three cat/animal rescue centers here in our town but we can't seem to rate a decent breakfast place. So I was able to hand him off temporarily on Sunday at noon to Lucky's Cat House where one of the volunteers has a momma cat with nursing kittens at home and she was more than happy to accept him. We will properly adopt him around the beginning of July after he is weaned and neutered. So to be prepared (and to help out my neighbor who had 13 "surprise packages" show up the other day) I bought some of the Miracle Nipples with the locking syringes. Good luck with yours! The thing that had me freaking out was that he wouldn't poop. He peed a couple of times, but I was beginning to worry that he was constipated. That wasn't the case, he just didn't have anything in him. The moment that he was introduced to the "Miracle Nipple" he ate like a little pig. :)

@@MrWaalkman that's wonderful! I'm so happy he's doing well and thriving! They're so tiny and fragile. Mine was doing well until she declined quickly yesterday. I took her in to the vet and she ended up having an eye and naval infection along with pneumonia. I gave her medicine, milk, and a lot of warm cuddles. She passed away last night unfortunately. We found her abandoned by her mother a few days ago. I wish I could have helped her more...I just order the miracle nipple yesterday and it's coming in today. My heart is shattered right now. I'm keeping all of the supplies I have though in case we need them in the future.

@@teresacamp I am so sorry, that is a heartbreaker. The lady at Lucky's Cat House told me that the average is about one survival for every five bottle feeders. I found a small litter of kittens in an abandoned house while exploring with some friends. 4 kittens were found but one was dead unfortunately. They didnt even have their eyes open yet. We waited a bit for the mom but she never came. My friend took 2 since he had room for 2 and he has cats of his own. I took the other because no one else could and i didnt want it to die. even with my mother saying not to bring the kitten home, i did. Once my mom saw it, she agreed that we couldnt just leave it. We took it to the vet, went to get the recommended supplies, and the kitten doing really well now! These videos are super helpful especially since i dont know anything about taking care of a kitten. i really rely on your videos. when my cat was pregnant i watched a video of the 0-8 week growth and development for the kittens after they’re born. and it helped a lot. now my cat gave birth to one kitten and two got stuck and she just got out of surgery today and we might lose her, but do to all of this she can’t take care of the kitten anymore, the others didn’t make it, so i have to and it’s my first time and i’m really relying on all of this 😭😭😭. i’m really worried about it all:(. i honestly wish i knew you or you could help me out for at least a day to help me get used to what i’m doing. but that’s not possible. thanks for making these videos for people that need this help ☺️😭❤️🤧!! please keep doing this 🥺❤️

How do you clean the bottle/syringe after feeding? And also, how do you keep the extra formula for the next feeding?
@pheart23818 жыл бұрын

I'm glad I found this video. I've been trying to feed a newborn kitten the mother doesn't seem interested in and now I ordered a pair of Miracle Nipples and a larger syringe than the ones I have from Amazon.

I know it says kitten lady but I assume you know a lot about grown cats also. my cats name is zeus and I've had him for 8 years and he's my best friend. within the last month he's been licking his hair off.. we thought It was fleas but we took him to the vet and they said he didn't have any and they said he was just stressed. within the past week he has been puking up his food... can I have your opinion I'm extremely worried about him!
@elizabethpokos73038 жыл бұрын
+Faith Stambaugh Is there a specific location the cat is pulling out his hair? Sometimes the location can tell us something about why they are pulling hair out. Also did your vet run any blood work?
@faithstambaugh38378 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth Pokos his back legs and lower back pretty much anywhere he can lick it off.. he seems to be happy and purring when I hold him and playing but I'm worried.. and the vet said he did run test and they came back negative
@elizabethpokos73038 жыл бұрын
I wonder if your vet ran a CBC and chem panel... My cat developed similar issues but only after she was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease and arthritis. She pulls the hair around her hips on her back due to the pain in her kidneys and hips... maybe your cat has arthritis (which is common in older cats). You can try adding glucosamine supplements to your cats food with approval from your vet. A whole month supply is about $12 through my vet and really helps my kitty out. Also have you changed anything recently that would cause the kitty to be stressed? Any new foods or roommates?
@faithstambaugh38378 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth Pokos we haven't changed anything major that I can recall the weather has been crazy hot and cold and changing so I didn't know if that was something
@elizabethpokos73038 жыл бұрын
Faith Stambaugh The weather could possible be causing the stress... I'm sorry but there isn't much I can help with without seeing the kitty for an exam myself. Good luck with your search though (:

So....I know that usually the momma cat litter trains her babies. How do you litter train? :)
@xionmemoria59398 жыл бұрын
It's instinct for them to bury their poo to avoid predators sniffing it out. If you see one going, just pick them up and place them in the litter box. Yes, you'll leave a trail of poo or pee, but they will soon understand that sandy surfaces = good places to go potty.

Emmy B my little tom immediately knew how to use the litter box, and he was just shy of five weeks or so (we found him, but since he was old enough to eat solids we assumed his age was five weeks)
@ANCIENTWARRI0R7 жыл бұрын
Actually using a litter box will come naturally. First step is the kitten will pee and poop away from where they sleep. This is when I add a small very low box with clay litter, not clump, to where I'm keeping them. As they grow the area I'm keeping them in gets larger but if it gets too large they won't look for the box but will just go anywhere. If they do that the area has to be made smaller. Hope this helps

So, my 8 day old is getting fiesty and strong. Sometimes I feel like it's a struggle to get her to latch on. I take it as a sign that she is a fighter, which she has been! I got her on day one😭. I couldn't let her die but the mom pushed it aside. This video is great. Ty!!!!🙏💜

I've been wondering this for some time now. Let's say I find a kitten in the middle of the night, no pet stores are open, but I want to feed the kitten with something. What can I do to keep the kitten alive until the morning?
@KittenLady8 жыл бұрын
Keep kitten formula on hand at all times. :) Really, though -- in an emergency situation, you'd still want to keep them hydrated and warm until you could access formula. Fluids (like flavorless pedialyte), warmth and safety until you can get to a store, which you should do as SOON as one is open. Some people will also use goat's milk, which could be an option in a pinch. But the very best is always to use formula, so it never hurts to keep some in the freezer or keep a can on hand. (Visit KittenLady.org/supplies to check out formulas I like!)

Thanks for the reply. I'm not a cat owner, and I never saved kittens before, but I always watch your videos so that I know what to do in case I ever come across a kitten in need. That's why I don't really have supplies on me at all times, but you are right, one never knows when the formula will come in handy. I checked your website, but I suppose they have different brands here in Hungary :D

Hello, after using the syring do you need to sterilise it like the baby bottles or is only washing it with hot water ok to avoid contamination with germs. I'm sorry for my bad English, and hope you have understand my question. I admire you for the great job you do taking are of the kittens with so much love and patience

Hello from Spain!! I love your videos! They’re helping me so much with my baby kitten. He’s 10 days now and he’s been feeding from a bottle, but I’ve just change to a syringe to control him better, and he doesn’t need my help with the syringe, he sucks so hard on the miracle nipple that the formula just goes down without my help. He’s been sneezing lately, but the vet says he’s fine, he doesn’t have any liquid on his lungs or any inflammation on his nose. This is why I changed from the bottle to the syringe, so I can control everything much better. Thank you for your videos!! 😘🥰

Can you make a video saving cats on death row? :(

if cats were spayed and neutered there would not be any on death row and no babies being born that would end up homeless and/or on death row

Momma ended up being very sick and has been at the vet two days due to infection and necessary surgery (She should be coming home tomorrow and hopefully takes back the babies) I've been feeding these little guys! I so appreciate the videos I wouldn't have known what to do.

Thank you so much for your video. My daughter and I found a new born kitten just as your described in your video. We hoped the mother would return for her.When that didn't happen we went to Walmart to pick up supplies to care for her. We hadn't seen your video. Bought the right powdered milk but not the correct syringe 😞. Will get it today. Thank you so much for video and the chart. Hope our cat (no name yet) turns out as healthy and happy as yours did.🐈🐈👍👍.

I really wish I have found your channel earlier, my cat jamie gave birth to three little kittens the first one made it out alone but the next two kittens needed the help of a doctor. Jamie didn´t gave milk an I needed to foster the three kittens. The first one died after two days. It was the first one Born and it didn´t drank the milk I gave him (I talked with the vet and he told me how I should do it and gave me milk pulver and vitamine drops) the second one died after 5 days. I didn´t know why, he was the bigger one and he drank alot. But he startet a little bit bleeding while pooping and the vet didn´t also know what to do. But Koda the third and smallest kitten made it through. I´m so proud of him and he is now 6 months old and is doing well.
