In Samoan culture, the presentation of the 'Sua' is the hosts family's way of showing appreciation to all the families who have spared their time to come to a funeral, wedding or birthday.
Before the ceremony takes place, families will show their support to the family of the bride or groom in the event of a wedding or to the deceased person in the event of a funeral by bringing ie toga or money.
This is called a si'i alofa - you can check out more info on this part of the Samoan culture here:
www.thecoconet.tv/how-to/samo...
Find out when the 'Sua' from the host family is given in different circumstances, who the sua is presented to and the 5 different components of the Sua.
In this video Destiny and Sapati learn how to present the Sua from our Samoan cultural advisor Yvonne Maea-Brown

I wish the girls had the chance to learn the Samoan language before this - this is a great way to learn, reminiscing to all the scoldings, yelling, beatings just to learn how to walk respectfully and always open your ears - listen carefully! Love it

Malie, love it for I want to learn Samoan Culture for my family from Creation are there in American Samoa and Western Samoa. In American Samoa are my Namesake's descendants when Samoa was ruled by my Uso and Aiga. While my family in Western Samoa are my namesake's father from Fiji is buried and his siblings with him. So my relations to Western Samoa is a sort of cousins while in American Samoa are my brothers but they are both my blood and they know that they originated from Fiji and one of my Uso Vincent whose wife in NZ is a Maori, told me in 2015 online that their grandpa always tell them, Our family in Fiji TuiSamoa whom we are linked to in Fiji know both our lineage in Samoa and Fiji to be linked to the first humans of Creation", and I told her once I relocate overseas than I will release our WT or Written Tradition & OT or Oral Tradition due to my security. But any ways, I really appreciate this segments of Samoan Customs. Malie and Malo a Vakadrakai, or Thank you for taking the time and trouble to share, for I want to learn as much as i can before I make the traditional approach of tracing my steps back to American Samoa than to Western Samoa in both the Samoan protocol. Much Love to this channel and the creators and participant, Malo.
