Many think you have to mount, tack and lead a horse from the left side. The only reason that people do that is because long long ago when soldiers rode horses they usually had their sword on their right side. If they mounted on the right side their sword would be in the way so they'd mount on the left side. Tradition caught and now I've seen people kicked out of their barn for mounting on the right side. Which is stupid of course, but it happens. Actually at my barn we mount on both sides so our stirrup leathers stretch equally and the horse isn't stronger on one side. The chiropractor even says it's better to do so. If you read all of this thanks. I LOVE your channel!!! BTW I'm from the U.S.

Wow this was very interesting thanks for telling me I had no idea that that was why you had to tack up, lead and mount from the left so thanks so much for telling me :) I might start doing it from both sides now after hearing that thanks :) xx
@karmicanadienne18558 жыл бұрын
Yes but you break the tradition by mounting leading etc... On the right side! So please peopl continue mounting on the left side!
@TaliciaBeardsmore7 жыл бұрын
Karmi Canadienne It is heaps better to have the horse used to both sides, you never want a one sided horse that freaks out if you mount on the left. That is not a well trained horses if you can only mount on the left. Breaking tradition? Haha are you kidding me?
@missbackyardcamper3327 жыл бұрын
Karmi Canadienne People can mount on whichever side they want! That's just your own opinion to mount ONLY from the left! Just saying.

@imjustasadtwigoflemonmyrtl90438 жыл бұрын
Oh and for people watching now, before you tighten the girth up you walk the horse around and then stretch his legs out then you walk them around again and then you tighten the girth up (that's the best way to make sure the girth muscles don't get ripped or strained or anything and it is comfort for the horse)

@tesstheblackbunny20468 жыл бұрын
Can I come with some? :) Always keep calm. DO NOT scream or make wierd noices, run around or move fast, this can scare the horse. When riding, keep your hands down to the mane, don't pull your hands up. Keep your heels down under your toes. Smile and enjoy your ride :)

the half pad or wither relief pads and any other 2nd pad. are there for comfort and support. having a thin saddle pad and a 20 pound saddle wouldn't be comfty so you add a half pad or wither relief pad.

Your straps are way to long lol u are supposed to put the girth in the strap in the pad not the stirrup strap lol but maybe it's different than where I live
@TaliciaBeardsmore9 жыл бұрын
I didn't put it in the stirrup strap? lol
@casellaxox52669 жыл бұрын
some people do that so the pad dont slip
@horsesrotflol8 жыл бұрын
Those aren't the stirrup leathers, the billet straps on her saddle are quite long and meet the girth halfway down the stomach. She sticks the two billet straps through the saddle pad strap and it works exactly like it would if the girth went through.
@lilliesplash22186 жыл бұрын
she put the billets in the pad strap.. not the stirrup leathers. plus they aren't too long they're supposed to be like that on dressage saddles
