Can you relate the Red Flags to Signposting and Diagnosis? For example in Diabetes.
@dr_aman_arora7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, diabetes can have many red flags. Eg things like enquiring re DKA or hypo symptoms, chest pain etc many be important if considering the diagnosis or even in an established diabetic patient case. Signposting may be similar to other cases eg. 'when we are thinking of diabetes, there are a few specific questions that we tend to ask - I'm just going to run through a few if ok...' Hope this helps!

Thank you, Dr Arora, for your response. I assume you included chest pain to exclude an Acute Coronary Syndrome? Is it acceptable in an exam situation to say even if a patient is asymptomatic, he can be confirmed a diabetic if there are 2 random readings BM readings of >11.1mmol/Litre?

jay khajuria - yes diagnosis needs two readings if asymptotic. I'd consider asking about chest pain given the big risk factor of being diabetic. Remember also silent MIs too
