I've just completed a library of all the great literary works with a combination of Easton Press, Franklin Oxford and Folio Society high end and limited edition books... many worth over $1000 ... and now I'm obsessed with preserving it for generations to come... wish there was more content like this on KZbin.

You and me both! I have only recently gotten into building my library with some very nice HC and leatherbound classics and I want to make sure they last a loooooong time.

Kein Buchliebhaber würde sich Bücher von Franklin Oxford ins Regal stellen. Egal, wie teuer die sind. 😂😂😂 Das verrät Ihren schlechten Geschmack...

The Babylon Bee T shirt is super. I laughed and laughed...and I love the Babylon Bee Videos. The books and the book information was SUPER. Thanks. Doctor George Whitehead

Thank you for this! As with other viewers, I wish there were more channels addressing how to actually treat books correctly so that we aren't damaging our beloved collection.

Never thought of that. It makes sense

You know what the best thing about a book is besides the contents? The smell. I love how a new book smells but older books and manuscripts have an almost nutty and musty scent that permeates the mind with the captured memories of history!

I was standing on my hands yeling towards the bookcase to "LET GO OF THE BOOK!" This works too.

I usually put a piece of ribbon in the book leave about one inch out, long enough in the book , pull the ribbon to remove it from the shelf.

What about books that are too tall to reach an arm over?
@PatricksRareBooks3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that can be a challenge.

Put them in-between shorter books. This is also informative: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKeuZ6GXp5mSb5Y

Would that method eventually damage the pages, especially if they are tightly shelved? You probably recommend not tightly shelving books, but sometimes there just isn't enough room. Maybe you have done this before, but is putting books upright the best way, or is laying them down better? Thanks.
@PatricksRareBooks3 жыл бұрын
It should not damage the pages. Shelving too tightly causes splay, which I have also done a video about: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnnYd4eClMZlg80

How she grabbed some of the books off the shelf was one of the sadest things I have ever seen. Must be a spine bender
