Dat flicka wrist Jake! I actually tried copying your style for a shoot, but had no idea what I was doing. It was a friend who came over + whiskey. What I made him do was move his head with a timer in the camera + tripod and slow shutter. So silly. Anyways, thanks a lot for this tutorial! I’ll try it out soon!

Hi Jake! I’m curious, I’ve been practicing your shutter drag technique, but I’m finding it hard to nail focus on my subject with my Leica M3 I’m assuming shooting on higher apertures like F11 could help this but in the video you mention shooting F2 iso 100 Though I’m getting the light trails and I have my highlights/shadows clearly laid out Subject isn’t often in focus…

Such a useful video ty! Question- I noticed you didn’t use a flash to freeze your model, does that mean you don’t necessarily need one to capture this?
@insvin85992 жыл бұрын
To get this exact look I don't use a flash! You can get a different kind of effect using a flash to freeze the subject then add streaks of light by moving the camera around where the shadows would be that the flash made.
@bubikumbas3317Ай бұрын
Man, where you posting your photo?
@estellapaltos4073 жыл бұрын
what shutter speed do you usually shoot on for this effect? :)
@tabeabussmann Жыл бұрын
Im confused, normally, to freeze you’d need a flash + continuous light. Does it work without flash because it’s on film or because the ss is relatively short?
@daviddoherty8493 Жыл бұрын
Yes exactly, I use what you describe too, but he’s using a relatively short and he’s quite still before he pans to create the trail. And in some cases his image may not even be pin sharp or frozen. I think!

The beauty of this technique is that it's nearly impossible to create the same image twice. Especially if it's a different hand holding a different camera. I believe each time someone tries it they will be putting their own unique fingerprint on it, and I love to see it!
