This is the BEST advice about this subject that I have received ! thank you !!!! Honey and tea is my favorite lubrication for my voice ! and herbal tea is also my favorite to use ! I have camomille, leamon zinger and rasberry and with each use I always have honey before I warm up and sing. And have lubricated vocals have done wonders for my tone.

Very good tips! Definitely avoid grease and dairy before singing. I have seasonal allergies for almost half the year and find that having water on head with lemon slices in it helps remove the phlegm from the throat while singing.

Hey Kerri! I love how helpful and free your videos are. At my high school, we put on a lot of musicals, and while we're not a drama school, we take drama very seriously. Other school groups even come to watch us perform. But the people who get the lead roles are always really strong singers, who have had singing lessons for years. I am really good at acting but not good at singing (quite bad actually). It has been my ambition for years to be able to sing with a really good strong voice, but I can't afford singing lessons. Will it ever be possible to be a good singer purely by watching these videos? Thanks so much xxx

I'm in this show and I play Cinderella but it's higher than movie it starts on a D and it's hard for me to sing because it's around my breaking point and it's hard because I can't sing it too loud because my character is softer so I can't like belt the song. Also Normally I don't get nervous on stage but because its hard to sing for me I get nervous and mess up. I would love it if you could help me with this! 😊

So my voice has been severely lacking the past few weeks and I've been trying to get to the source of the problem. I am using my whistle register almost everyday to improve it and it's been two weeks already I can sing two notes higher than my start point. So I've been told that whistling damages voice very much. Actually belting hurts my voice even more. Whistling is so easy, effortless and painless. Does it damage my voice, should I stop it?

Do you (or anyone else really) know any cheaper alternatives to manuka honey? It's like £13 for a decent pot from Tescos and I don't think my mum will be happy buying such expensive honey... :/ Also, do you have any tips on how to heal a sore throat? do not sing
@jakestevenson63888 жыл бұрын
+Василије Ђуковић I disagree. I think learning correct technique that removes tension and encourages proper placement allows a singer to sing with a cold or infection without it becoming injurious. Obviously a good rule is to stop singing if it hurts, or there is throat tension.
@KerriHo8 жыл бұрын
If you have a sore throat, you should not sing. However, if you need to talk, the very light bubbles are great for gently getting your voice into the right place before speaking. Stay hydrated and let sore throat heal. You can try steam and hot tea with honey. Stay away from caffeine - it is dehydrating. =)

I know this is a few years too late,, but just saw this video and your post,,, you need to see an ENT who is also a laryngologist,,who also knows the Voice,,, until u can,,, massage your neck,, the soft round circles on your cheeks,, you have tension in your throat,,,unless it is something worse,, you may have inflamation on your chords or vocal folds,, but you need a professional exam,,,,,,,,stress and tension can make your throat sore or hoarse,,it can get serious so I hope you got help,,, I massage the inside of my mouth with my thumb in my cheek,, and my fingers OUTSIDE my cheek, and massage the cheek from outside in,,,it feels great and stimulates the mouth tissue,,, hope u are Ok,,

Wouldn't being vegan help one's voice a lot? You mentioned more fruits and vegetables on top of staying away from meat and dairy. Based on what you said, would you not say it is optimal to avoid meat and dairy completely? It would make one's body healthier, and thus (even as you said) will result in a healthy and usable voice at any point of his/her day.
