How To Take Cuttings / Propagate Perennials And Shrubs

Cuttings are a great way to propagate plants but also enable us to protect our stock of the more tender perennials through the harshest winters.
Today, I am propagating Lavender, Rosemary, Penstemons, Veronicastrum, Clematis, Pittosporum and Brachyglotis. I show you how to collect your cuttings and how to prepare them for rooting and then how to care for your cuttings for the first 4 - 6 weeks.

Why do you only place the cuttings around the edge of a pot?

Hi Francine, we only place the cuttings around the edge so that they are not surrounded by as much damp compost, this is supposed to help prevent them from rotting. 😊
