Thanks Tristan. Your Dad has just been waiting for this. I have learned such a lot about using my iPhone camera in this vlog. It is just so informative not only for action photos but general use if the iPhone camera and settings. An excellent vlog Thanks. 🎉🎉

0.5x FTW😂. I have a very basic question. How do you keep from dropping your camera and how do you keep from killing yourself while you are photographing while riding. The obvious answer is “practice” but I am looking for other tips. I have the large form factor iPhone 12 and I find it difficult to hold so that I am not nervous that I will drop it.

Fantastic! I have 12 pro and never really messed with camera settings. Excited to start using what I just learned! I've seen where lots of pros like yourself are ditching lugging massive cameras around on their bike and are just using Iphones...

Thank you Tristan, you have this rare talent to present the content in a clear and interesting way. My experiences from taking photos on the bike: a) I'm always very afraid of the phone falling off from my hand (and most likely it wouldn't survive) b) because I keep the phone in my back pocket, which typically is a sweaty place, the lens is blurry and needs wiping out to remove the sweat c) so I ended up shooting photos using my old action cam (a cheap gopro-like). I keep it in the pocket in a small, un-zipped protective case. Anyway, I really like this iPhone how-to. If not on the bike, it is very useful for everyday use. Cheers!

Tristan my iPhone just has 4:3, square or 16:9 frame size. Can you explain what they are and which be best for cycling images on the go. Thanks
@tristantakevideo
@tristantakevideo Жыл бұрын
Hey Bruce, these are the aspect ratios for the cropping of your photo. 4:3 is 4 parts wide to 3 parts high (a slightly rectangular photo), square is square, and 16:9 is a long rectangular frame. I use 4:3 for everything and then crop the image square if I need it in that format.

0.5x FTW - i've always found that the 1x lens 26mm too wide for taking shots at my bike. the distortion is visible even at a reasonable distance (3/4 of the frame with the bike), namely the triangle seems slightly larger compared to wheels etc proportionally, compared to how they are seen to naked eyes. Personally i'm a 50mm guy, so i generally always step back and use zoom lens (75mm ish on the iphone?) to take shots of my bike..happy to sacrifice some pixels for that. Keep up the good vids bud! FYI - would you mind sharing your height and bike size/stem length? i see you have a low saddle/bar drop while having a relatively long reach. looks great, aero and aggressive, strong core!

Thanks for the great tips Tristan... I just discovered your content and immediately subscribed!! I have an iphone 11 pro max and have it with me on every ride. I wanted to ask two questions. What size iphone do you find works best for cycling... the pro or the pro max? I like the max's bigger screen and size; however, I find that handling it one handed while riding can become cumbersome. Second, what case do you ride with and do you use any sort of pop socket on the back to help with the one handed photo/video'ing. Your advise is always appreciated!
