Machine polishing is known as the “art of detailing.” A skilled detailer can restore paintwork by removing scratches, swirl marks, and defects from clear coat paintwork. Using a machine polisher takes many hours of training and years of practice to master the art. Today in the Detail Garage, Nick restores the shine and reflection of this Hyundai Sonata. In this video, Nick covers the full process on how to remove swirl marks, scratches and scuffs from paintwork using a dual-action polisher and restore the shine. Enjoy the video!

You guys have literally made me truly appreciate the paint on my m packaged bmw . After your videos I am all about detailing ! I’ve been on your website and ive been trying to find out how i can take my car to you guys to have the paint corrected by you personally, maybe even use my car for a video . I recently had my car re painted and the auto body shop was paid a lot of money, i feel like they cut corners with my paint job or finish.. i just dont have the eyes of a professional to really know, but to me, it doesn’t look right. I took it back and after watching your videos i felt like it needed a wet sand compound buff. I feel like they never did it, just re buffed the car. Is that a normal practice after a new paint job ? Thanks for everything so far! Keep the videos up!

@@ChemicalGuys Does the V36 and final polish permanently remove the scratches or are they just masked and will come back after the polish wears off?
@kendog0013
@kendog0013 Жыл бұрын
@@ericsands1 a V36 mask is just that, a mask; it will come off over time - the only true way to get rid of scratches (if theyre not incredibly deep) is by buffing them out completely to the next layer of paint with a buffer like he used near the end of the video (or by a re-paint job, but 90% of the time, minimal scratches can be buffed out and isnt worth the hundreds of dollars for a repaint)

Just a little warning if your car has been ceramic coated it makes it near impossible to get out light scratches with polishing compounds as the coating is so hard they have little effect on the scratch, that's a downside of coatings they don't tell you about, if anyone has any ideas as to what I could do to remove them please let me know.

What was the name of the polish you used or was it only the black light?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 5 жыл бұрын
Hi! In this video, Nick used V36 to remove the scratches on the side of the Hyundai. Black Light is a glaze that will fill in minor swirls and scratches, but polishing is the only thing that is going actually remove the scratches. While V36 and a microfiber pad worked on this car, there is no knowing exactly what combination of pad and product will work best on your vehicle. We recommend picking up the whole V Line series sample kit, which I have also linked to you below. Thanks for watching and make sure to check back later today for a new video upload! www.chemicalguys.com/V36_Optical_Grade_Cutting_Polish_16_oz_p/gap_v36_16.htm www.chemicalguys.com/V_Line_Polish_Compound_Sample_Kit_4_oz_p/gap_vkit_04.htm

Hi Anthony, good question. Chemical Guys White Light Hybrid Radiant Finish is the ultimate gloss enhancer for a deep, wet, bright shine on white and light paint finishes. White Light is a premium gloss enhancer and sealant in one. Use White Light to add tons of extra deep wet shine, fill minor swirls and scratches, and clean minor stains and imperfections. Use White Light after a clay bar service, but before applying any sealant or wax coat for extra gloss and deep wet shine. Click the link below to read more! @ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Brett, sounds like you're putting too much pressure on the machine. With a Dual Action polisher, you only want to add about 5 pounds of pressure, which is the same as resting one of your hands on top of the polisher. If you put too much weight on a dual action polisher, it will stop spinning at full speed. With a dual action polisher, you can go at a nice slow pace. Thanks for watching, Ben, and make sure to check back later today for a new video upload!

I understand that applying it will help to protect it from the elements but how much will it camoflauge the missing paint?? Just a few questions.... what temperature should black light be used at? I would assume it should not be used during anything less than 60 degree weather, and after using black light would you recommend using wax to protect the clear coat?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael! Thanks for checking out the video. As long as the surface is cool to the touch but not freezing it will be perfectly fine to use Black Light Glaze. Yes, lock in shine while repelling the elements with a coat of sealant and/or wax. - CG Nick

Hey Paul! Correct, the best application of Black Light is after the surface has been polished however if you were to skip polishing you can apply Black Light to mask minor imperfections.

I had dried bug juice on my hood/grill of my black /Hyundai Sonata. While I was washing/soaped I us a plastic sealant finishing tool to scrape off the gunk. After I rinse I noticed that I left minor scratches on my hood. What's the best way to get this off? Any tips?
