if anyone is staying on the Upper West Side near Broadway & 106th St; take the M60-SBS to LGA Airport located at the northeast corner of 106th St-Broadway. *SBS* aka Select Bus Service means you must pay for the bus ride before boarding the bus: (step 1; press start button, step 2; insert metrocard into the machine, 3rd & final step; take back metrocard & then take/keep ticket receipt for possible inspection, then you can enter anywhere onto the bus & be on your way to LGA.

I could have used this info back in December. My wife and I arrived at LaGuardia fours late because of a dusting of snow. Then went to wait on our shared shuttle, which was 90 minutes late. The round trip shuttle for two seemed like a bargain when lady from the Philippines said that it only cost $22. When the bill arrived it said $72. You live and learn.

Those of you saying "take the M60 SBS from Astoria Blvd" the issue is the bus can be crowded by the time it pulls in. It's originating from Morningside Heights, not Astoria. It makes all those stops on 125th. Roosevelt Blvd is the Q70's 1st stop after Woodside. Possibly more room for your luggage and to get a seat. Unless it's a weekend I would just walk up to 53rd and take the E straight in. I'm a fan of the R46s but not a fan of the local stops in Queens.
@ahmadfrw16 жыл бұрын
The M60 SBS is only good for people travelling from the Harlem, Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Washington Heights, and Inwood sections of Manhattan as well as some sections of The Bronx. I agree with you on the (E) but I would catch it at 42nd Street-Port Authority since that is closer to Times Square (and it is a better option than the faster yet more expensive LIRR out of Penn Station, which leads to a longer ride on the Q70 LaGuardia Link).

They spent BILLIONS on the terminal upgrade at LGA but the only mass transit link is still the bus, even a ferry to midtown would have been a plus. EWR & JFK both have trains, and ISP is a short walk to the LIRR. I usually go to ISP as it's very easy and quick access to the parkways & LIE.

It is actually more advisable that you take MetroNorth Railroad to Harlem-125th Street and transfer to the M60 SBS to LaGuardia Airport. If you cannot afford MetroNorth fares, then you should take Bee Line Bus into The Bronx, and transfer to the MTA. This depends on where you are. The advisories are as follows: Eastchester/Tuckahoe, New Rochelle and Pelham Manor - take Bee Line Bus route 45 to Pelham Bay Park, transfer to the Q50 LIMITED to Flushing/Main Street and transfer to the Q48. Areas along the Long Island Sound to Port Chester - take Bee Line Bus route 60/61 to Baychester Avenue, transfer to the Bx30 to Bartow Avenue, transfer to the Q50 LIMITED to Flushing/Main street and transfer to the Q48. Areas along the Hudson - take Bee Line Bus routes 1 or 3 to West 242nd Street/Van Cortland Park, transfer to the (1) train to 168th Street, transfer to the (A) train to 125th Street and transfer to the M60 SBS. White Plains and Central Westchester areas - take Bee Line Bus routes 20/21 to Woodlawn, transfer to the (4) train to 125th Street and transfer to the M60 SBS, or take Bee Line route 40 to Mount Vernon, transfer to the 42 to Wakefield/east 241st Street (or take Bee Line route 25 or 26 to White Plains Road and Nereid Avenue), transfer to the (2) train to East Tremont Avenue/West Farms Square, transfer to the Q44 SBS to 39th Avenue/Main Street and transfer to the Q48, or take Bee Line routes 52 or 55 to Dyre Avenue, transfer to the (5) train to East Tremont Avenue/West Farms Square, transfer to the Q44 SBS to 39th Avenue/Main Street and transfer to the Q48.

I am surprised a city like New York doesn't have a direct subway route to LaGuardia Airport. Even Chicago has a direct El train route to O'Hare. They (Chicago) haven't had a bus route to O'Hare since 1983 (35 years ago). They also have a direct El line to Midway Airport as well.

Even if you're not flying to LGA, there is a way to get to Manhattan for as low as $2.75, the cost of a Subway ticket, from JFK, or $4.35 from EWR. To get from JFK to Manhattan: 1. If you aren't already at Terminal 5, take the AirTrain there (no fare required between terminals). 2. At Terminal 5, board the MTA Q10 Bus and take it to Lefferts Blvd & Liberty Ave. 3. Transfer to the A Train (it's a free transfer) at Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd. The A Train goes nearly the entire length of Manhattan from the Financial District to Inwood. To return to JFK from Manhattan: 1. Take the A Train to Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd. Note that there are multiple A Train routes. You want the one to Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd, NOT Rockaway Park-Beach 116th St or Far Rockaway-Mott Ave. 2. Transfer to the Q10 Bus (it's a free transfer) at Lefferts Blvd & Liberty Ave (right outside the station), and take it to JFK Terminal 5. 3. If you're flight isn't in Terminal 5, take the AirTrain (free between terminals) to your terminal. To get from EWR to Manhattan: 1. From any terminal, take the NJ Transit Bus 62 to Newark Penn Station. The fare is $1.60. 2. At Newark Penn Station, transfer to the PATH train. The fare is $2.75 and accepts MetroCards. Take the PATH to its eastern terminus at World Trade Center in Downtown Manhattan, in which you can transfer to the Subway to get you anywhere you need to go. To return to EWR from Manhattan: 1. At World Trade Center, take the PATH train to Newark Penn Station. 2. At Newark Penn Station, transfer to NJ Transit Bus 62 to EWR. I highly recommend you make a video for EWR and JFK, so no matter which airport you're flying from, you can get to Manhattan for under $5.

No. Terminal A is really small and only serves flights from a few select cities (one of which is Boston) on certain airlines. You can take one of LaGuardia's free shuttle buses that go between the terminals to get to one of the ones where the Q70 stops. As an aside, terminal A is the best partly because of it's size. It's a lot quieter, security line is usually much smaller, and it has a nice Art Deco lobby from the 30s.

Question: great video btw. So we'll be there in a couple weeks. I have questions regarding about fares. Coming from LGA to midtown Manhattan - do we have to pay twice? One before going on a bus and one to transfer to the subway? Also, do we have to pay everytime we ride a bus or subway? (Asking, because in vancouver our fare is valid for a certain hours.) Thanks in advance.
@nonstopnewyork50546 жыл бұрын
Hi, you get one transfer from the bus to the subway for free. So it only costs the price of a single fare to get to midtown this way. The way the subway works in NYC is you pay for the price of a ride which includes transfers between buses (so you can go subway to bus, bus-to-bus, or bus to subway) within 2 hours, but not subway-to-subway after you exit the station. So you can't ride the subway somewhere, exit the station, hang out for an hour, and then ride the subway back for free.

Hey I'm by the way and you can take the N to Astoria Boulevard and then take the M 60 bus to LaGuardia airport
@seifalah06267 жыл бұрын
Take the N/W to Astoria Blvd and catch the M60. OR take almost any train to Harlem and catch the M60. Definitely not worth going all the way out to Jackson Heights. OR, just spend the $15 and take the NYC airporter shuttle to LGA
@nonstopnewyork50547 жыл бұрын
The N/W+M60 could be faster for you depending on where you live and the current traffic conditions. A lot of people took this route before the MTA introduced the Laguardia Link Q70 bus last year. But, even if you live in a place where the M60 is a couple minutes faster, I still usually recommend the Q70. The M60 picks up commuters starting in West Harlem. At peak times, when the bus gets to Astoria it can be too crowded to even get on, especially with luggage. I (along with the MTA) recommend taking the train to Jackson Heights & transferring to the Q70 when leaving from midtown and lower Manhattan. The new Laguardia link bus is designed to just take passengers between Laguardia and the nearest subway stops (Jackson Heights and Woodside), so overcrowding isn't as much of a concern.
@seifalah06267 жыл бұрын
NonStop New York: since we are talking about Manhattan to LGA. even if you live In the village it's not worth going all the way out to Jackson Heights and then taking the bus. the m60 Was designed to accommodate Manhattan to LGA just as the Q70 was designed for Queens / LI to LGA. no matter how you slice it the best transit route from Manhattan to LGA is the M60
@nonstopnewyork50547 жыл бұрын
The phrase "All the way out to Jackson Heights" makes it seem like Jackson Heights is further from Manhattan than Laguardia. The Jackson Heights subway stop is due south by southwest of Laguardia. Coming from Midtown or lower Manhattan this does not require going some extraordinary additional distance to get to Jackson Heights and board the Q70 bus. Google "mta suggested route to laguardia" to find the MTA's airport page where the official recommendation is the Q70 when leaving from Midtown and lower Manhattan.
@seifalah06267 жыл бұрын
it is because it's a longer trip. You would have to spend 30 minutes on the subway to get out to Jackson Heights then spend another 10-15 minutes on the q70 to get up to LGA. Instead depending on your line it's 10 minu to Harlem and then 15-20 minutes across on the M60. OR, for $15 you catch the NYC Airport Shuttle at TS, Penn or GC and it'll take you straight across in 20-30 min (but we'll exclude that since we're just talking about the subway) As for the MTA, they have a lot of suggestions such as "Take the 7 train" which is a total sardine situation. They also say "our trains are f--ked up as usual so take buses" bottom line I wouldn't put so much faith in the MTA ;)

Another ways to get to LGA is to take the (7) train to 74th Street-Broadway. It would take like about 42 or 43 minutes to get there.
@nonstopnewyork50547 жыл бұрын
That works too! I like the 7 because it's above ground almost the entire way through Queens. If anyone does this during rush hour though, make sure you don't get on the Express 7, because the Express 7 doesn't make the stop at 74th St- Broadway. An Express 7 train has a diamond shape around the 7 in the windows on the side of the train.
@ahmadfrw16 жыл бұрын
The deceiving factor about the (7) is that it is FREQUENT. If you wind up on a EXPRESS, you will have to get off at Woodside to transfer to the Q70 LaGuardia Link (which would be a 15 minute ride to the Airport). You will need the LOCAL to get off at 74th Street for the Q70 LaGuardia Link.

I have a question. How does the free transfer to the bus work? Was it because the machine detected that your card was used in Times Square less than an hour ago and inferred you went from the subway to the bus? Does it work going from the bus to the subway too?
@nonstopnewyork50547 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's how the transfer works, except transfer time is actually longer: 2 hours. Yes, you it's also possible to transfer from the bus to the subway. I do this in another video where I take the subway from Laguardia to Times Square kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2iafWueibN5a5o Note that you just get one subway-to-bus or bus-to-subway transfer per ride though. Taking the E to Jackson Heights is a better option if it's near your starting point since that train is express. The R is the closer stop to a lot of the Time Square hotels. You can transfer from the R to the E at Queens Plaza for a slightly faster trip if you want but it's not worth the trouble to potentially save 2-3 minutes if you have a lot of luggage and you're not familiar with the subway. The M60 used to be the best way to get to Laguardia from Midtown, but after the MTA introduced the Q70 Laguardia Link bus last year, that's no longer the case.

I disagree. Obviously, the best way is to get to LaGuardia is to take the train to EWR, go on a flight to somewhere else like Chicago, then fly to LGA.
