How to take the tire off a junk rim for scrap!!!

how much is that scrap rim worth ? I seen one vid where the feller sharpened his sawzall blade like a knife then just went around the perimeter leaving the steel cords only which he ten just pried off with two crowbars then burned the rubber off and sold that too.

@randymacsgarage well from what I read. The average car rim weights approximately 20lbs. (Scrapyard depending) mine pays .42 per pound. So about $8.40 each. I have a different set up though where I get paid more because of the volume I bring in.

In my area, $13-$16 per rim. Depends on weight of said rim.

@@tinytim9453 exactly, each scrap yard will pay a little different. Some privately owned ones will pay less than your bigger ones.

wouldn't it be easier to use a tire machine to take off the tire? (i have a cheap one from harbor freight) How much value does an aluminum rim have?

@KyleGreenhow yes it would be easier if you had one and had the room for it. For someone like me, I don't have the room for that. The way I did it is just the quickest and easiest way I found for myself. An aluminum rim can have a value in between $10 and 20 dollars each. Depending on size, weight, and the scrapyard you go to. or you could of just let all the air out and drive your car over the edge of the type it breaks the seal and you can keep the tyre
