Thanks for your informative video. I have been several times to Paris via CDG and have taken different ones to get to the city. I liked the Weekly/Monthly method except for issues with getting my picture made to give the person to complete that ticket (machine for photo was not being friendly even complying with the instructions). I will know more next time based on your video. Thanks.

A very thorough description of Paris transport thank you. I’ll be travelling alone in May. Would you have pointers for me? Clearly, not to travel/walk after dark. 👏🇦🇺
@Moemaguerra
@Moemaguerra Жыл бұрын
Hi Anne, I'm glad appreciate the details in this. Please don't get me wrong, you can walk after dark, just not everywhere, this is with any major city especially not when carrying precious items with you. I would make sure to download citymapper or Google maps (the map within the app so if you don't have internet you can still use it). I would just try to walk where possible throughout the day just so that you can really see the streets and enjoy the architecture. Honestly just follow the pretty streets. Obvious one but truly avoid rush hour on the metro so the typical 8h to 9h and 5pm to 6pm, especially if taking line 4,9,13 or RERs. Learn a few words in french. And if you are lost at a station go to an information desk or anyone wearing the metros logo. I'm not sure what else to cover but here to answer other questions although I'm not a certified guide, just an old local :) Have a wonderful trip !!

No worries. I might not be able to help, I've never had to use a hostel and don't know anyone who did use one too. If it's a chain hostel it's likely to have an elevator, potentially see if you can get assigned the disabled room (will likely be bottom floor if no elevator available). Have a lovely trip ! :)

Thank you for clear advice. I'm glad you mentioned buses,they almost never get a you tube mention. How do you pay for your bus ride on Paris buses. Do you just show your day pass,I mean the metro one also,to the driver,or do you scan it as you board. Are Paris buses cashless like London. I've heard you can't use contact less. I'm researching for my upcoming trip as I think some things have changed a bit since my 2019 visit,then covid intervened. I think I'm lucky and privileged to get this chance to go one more time. I got around well on the metro,its super easy to use,same as the London tube but en francais. But I was too scared to get on a bus in case I got an unhelpful driver + I don't speak French. Which is bad and lazy I know,but I got by. Any advice on using the bus in Paris from anyone who reads this very welcome.
@Moemaguerra
@Moemaguerra 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jane !! I'm glad, thank you. You will have a tapping machine but Paris has no contactless payment anywhere yet. For the bus, you buy the ticket on board via message, or you tap your ticket/phone (with the transport app and purchased ticket only) in the tap machine. If you have a paper ticket (unsure if it is still a thing for buses) but there is a little whole under the tapping machine where you insert it to get it validated. Ticket app in the video description. I really hope this is clear. Have a safe and fun trip 💕

@Moemaguerra
@Moemaguerra 2 жыл бұрын
Hiii !! So exciting 😋 The average travel time is 1h30 via public transports and 1h via taxi. If you take the public transport I recommend taking the Rossy Bus which actually stops at Opera, from there, take line 9 to the 16th. I recommend the bus because it's less stressful and it stops in such a beautiful area of the city. However, do double check any app such as Google/citymapper to make sure you are taking the most efficient route for the day and time you arrive at ! Enjoy your stay 😋

Hi Moema. I am coming to Paris in May. I just wanted to ask, for a solo female traveller what is the safest way from terminal 2 CDG airport to Ivry sur seine (a little bit outside main paris...closest station on google maps was port de choisy). Im landing at 20;35 hours so by the time i clear immigration and get my luggage it may be 10 pm ....should i take rerB train and then the tram ? The airbnb is 10 minutes walk from port de choisy....is that safe for me to walk at like 11-12 at night? Or sgould i take a cab?

Thank you Hzl !! ♥️ There are many stations that have escalators, some will have elevators. Unfortunately, metros in Paris are not the most luggage or disability friendly :/ The more modern/new the station or even touristy, the more likely you are to have elevators.

You can see exact prices of different routes by putting in the itinerary on this official website: www.transilien.com/fr/itinerary/search/?departure=Gare+Montparnasse+%28Paris%29&departureId=stop_area%3AIDFM%3A71139&arrival=Br%C3%A9tigny+%28Br%C3%A9tigny-sur-Orge%29&arrivalId=stop_area%3AIDFM%3A60247&dateType=DEPARTURE&departureLatitude=48.8406724311&departureLongitude=2.31934299105&arrivalLatitude=48.6070135541&arrivalLongitude=2.3019864351&haveBusBypassed=false&date=2022-12-06&time=08%3A26&mode=AUTO

Hi Jimmy!! I really recommend getting the "citymapper" app on your phone because this is not something I know from the top of my head and the best I can do is look at the app today and give you what they give me. Unfortunately, this might not be the best route for you to take on the day of your trip because I might recommend a metro line that might be closed or unavailable on the day you need to take it :/. You can of course look at the app in advance and get an idea of the options available to you. This is not a sponsored app or anything I've been using it for years and it's really great with timings and precise with directions. It will make your stay in Paris so much better! I hope you have a safe travel and lovely journey 💃

How do you know if the RER or metro will split in to a different direction?
@Moemaguerra
@Moemaguerra 2 жыл бұрын
Hiii ! Usually you can see the map of the metro/RER before getting in or on the metro. Usually, they have little lights on indicating the direction or you'll be able to see it in on the screens inside the transports. The direction is already set, you just need to make sure you hopped on the right one. Usually the name of the terminus/terminal is displayed on the screens that provide arrival time. So depending on the name of the terminal, you can know which direction the train is going into! If you aren't sure, just ask people on the platform before boarding, this will help you avoid some bad surprises.

We are supposed to commute between Paris fare du nord to Paris fare de Lyon in an hour with kids and luggage around. How will it be easier? Can we just buy tickets from gate or is it an app to buy previously the trip. Such as RER as we arrive by Eurostar from London and we are running to Paris gare de Lyon. Because I don’t have the time to wait for the tickets but maybe to buy them on an app so we can use the phone to pay for the RER. Thank you
@anaclaudiaguerra2995
@anaclaudiaguerra2995 2 жыл бұрын
Well, if you're trying to use the RER I would simply recommend to buy the tickets when you get there and get a ticket t+ for everyone (one ticket each) that is travelling since I am not sure how you can get multiple tickets on just one phone, unless you see that the app allows for that. The app didn't work on my phone unfortunately maybe because I didn't have an android. If your issue really is queuing, it shouldn't be a problem cause the RER is 8 minutes and that gives you enough time to arrive and find your next train. I wish I could help more with the app and helping you get tickets directly through it, but buying them on site has never made me late, you just have to check departure times for the RER D you are trying to take.
@Moemaguerra
@Moemaguerra 2 жыл бұрын
Hi!! I hope the answer below helps. If it was not clear please let me know and I will try to help! But I feel like the main take away would be to download the RATP app (where you can buy the tickets online) and check if you can buy the tickets there since the app (and some tickets available on the app) are not compatible with every phone. It should be an easy journey from one station to the next via RER since the trip is only 8min and you have 52 min to deal with any issues that may come your way. Staff in these stations tend to be quite helpful as well, so I wouldn't worry! Have a great trip and good luck :) App for online tickets: www.ratp.fr/en/apps/bonjour-ratp

Hi Osman ! You can do both. If you have not downloaded the app and seen if you can buy tickets on your phone, you will need to go buy the easy pass in person. Almost all stations (metro, rer, tram, airports...) WILL sell tickets either through machines in most cases or through the in-person guichets.
