I just walked out of my sewing room after doing my own measurements to check KZbin for new videos and yours popped up.

Awesome, thank you so much for sharing (your hard earned skills with us for free, even though it's worth gold), it makes measuring so much more accurate than trying to do it from a book. And after a few years of sewing... Now I know how to do it, "the proper way"!

Definitely! So glad this video was able to give you a better visual on how it's done. :) I know it was hard for me at one point to know what each measurement meant.

Very helpful with helping be clear of where exactly to measure. I love your channel so much! I'm currently making an 18th century gown more specifically a Civil War dress I just started it so I have a lot more to go. Do you have any tips on reading patterns and transferring them to fabric easier?

Do you use an historic pattern? ☺️

@@Damoire I’m using the Simplicity 8578 Robe a la Francaise Dress pattern. I’m pretty sure it was created by American Duchess though.

@@Thatoneemochick2 that dress is gorgeous I am always curious what patterns others use ☺️. I also have a Simplicity pattern laying around here but I didn't start sewing it yet.

Thank you! So glad this was helpful 🙂 So exciting you’re working on your own historical gowns! And that’s a good question... perhaps I could do a video on that 👍🏼

Learned something new with measuring the waistline and the end of the ribcage always took nearly three fingers above the bellybutton. Where did you learn sewing? Personally I would find an overview of different historic skirtforms and designs interesting ☺️.

Thank you for the recommendation for a video! Glad this video was insightful for you too 🙂 i was self-taught after I learned from my Mom how to quilt. I basically learned from making many different patterns and seeing the different methods other designers were using 👍🏼
