It's not easy when they have anger problems, and they are talking over you and repeatedly saying "shut the f*** up" every time you try to speak.

What is it called if your spouse reacts with violently throwing an object, swearing at you, yells at you to answer and when you try to answer one question, they are already ramped up to at least 3 more questions? I try to say their name calmly, and I try to understand, but it's a massive truck of anger at me. At what point is it verbal abuse or toxic? What is normal?

One day, me and my mom got in an argument over how I had to wear my elastics,(rubber bands during braces to straighten teeth) and what I did was 1, stayed calm, 2 told her I understood her anger, and she was asking me why I wasn’t angry like her, and asked me if I understood the situation.( I had put off finding out how my elastics went on for 3 days, until that day) and I said that being angry isn’t going to solve anything, and 3rd, i posed a solution and I would say the most important thing to do when talking to an angry person, is staying calm. By the way, this is a really informative vid, thanks for the help!

@Firelight157 Honesty may be good there, saying you are not sure what to say but that you really care for them to feel better and to find a solution together.
@andrebroomfield3 жыл бұрын
@The Coyote at that point I would walk away and give them time to let out some anger. If the other person can’t stay angry long, then it should be easier to talk after a while.
@alinecardoso96684 жыл бұрын
It is hard to be rational when somebody are screaming with you, but agree that is the best way to handle it, other thing that I'm learning is shut my mouth, because some people wants to be right, they have the necessity to end a fight or a conversation, for example, if you stop talking they stop, it is funny but with my sister it worked.
@ZiggyLu-og3zp3 жыл бұрын
The best thing to do is first realize that they are most likely being irrational. Some people have a reason to be Angry but others look for reasons to be angry or to express their anger that is misplaced. If you are dealing with a narcissist thing you simply act as though nothing is penetrating you and play Gray rock. Listen to them, acknowledge their anger and why they are angry, and then ask them how they would like to resolve the issue.

It should be noted that this advice along with similar advice is appropriate only in such cases where the ‘angry’ individual is not perceiving a situation in full and is rather influenced by a past of unresolved circumstances that now cause them to be ‘triggered’ and react inappropriately to present situations. Those who are fully perceptive in a moment and express anger do so appropriately and should be respected and learned from. For example, if you lie to your wife, her anger may very well be appropriate, and thus your only path to reconciliation is to surrender yourself (your ego) to her. People often do not know how to do this because they are too busy watching videos like this one to figure out how to prevent or fix something. In the case of anger and you’re at fault, you must surrender, and no video or how to guide can help you with that.

Just some suggestions on how to make your video better. You speak a lot about what actions to take when dealing with angry people, which is all logic/left brain thinking. However, you don't touch upon FEELINGS, right brain thinking, the emotions we are having as a response to angry people that prevent us from reacting in the correct manner. Feelings such as feeling threatened or unsafe, caring too much how the other person perceives you, feeling hurt that they are reacting in this way, which comes from low self worth and internalization. When you work on your FEELINGS, you don't need to know how to react or what to say because your reaction will be coming from a place of feeling safe, worthy and calm. Therefore you will intuitively know what the right response is. See people's programmed reactions are based on emotions, not logic. Therefore telling people what to do instead of getting to the root issue will not give anyone true lasting results.
