Love the way Kevin describes taming monitors. He basicly described natural horsemanship! I’ve always described it as if you imagine every animal has a personal bubble, you want to touch the bubble, but not pop it. Eventually the bubble gets smaller and smaller with repetitions

Exactly! I've been wanting to make this video for a while since he explained his methods to me however long ago that was.

Kevin McCurley no worries mate Just like monitors there’s 101 different ways of breaking horses But yes basicly I will push as far as They will allow (wether it’s putting half my weight on a horse, or just taking a step towards then) Then retreat before they feel the need to. The idea is that once they are under saddle they seem to know any stress like something scary on the trail will go away if they stay patient and relaxed Works well for us here

@Adam-pn5eg5 жыл бұрын
Did you handle often even when it was scared? Im not too sure this video really explained it that well.
@panzerkrieg35093 жыл бұрын
The reason his monitors sell so much is cause some of them are 3 to 4 generations of captive born and bred lizzard. When you buy a dog from a good breeder you can pay 1000+ for them, but you could always get them from a mill and pay much less. Both aniamls make good pets some just require more work. I believe NERD handles all his monitors so when you buy them they come somewhat accustomed to handling.
