I cannot imagine what it must feel like to find these round white objects that producethese magical mystical creatures. And then you get to become their mom and their daddy. You get to become their buddy and their protector and their savior and their GREATLY NEEDED ADVOCATE!! I can't imagine how great that would feel.💓🖤 What a great gift you have given this Earth Kevin. All the people that work with you are amazing! I'm just so envious that I didn't learn about this world until now... Next time around boy ...I'm going to be a monitor mama!!🐊🐍🦎🐲🐉🦕🦖

And that's very true, water monitors are not for everyone unless you are willing to go the extra mile with their husbandry and the time you spend with them is very important and like you said they live for 20 years. Long term commitment I actually have a cage setup a whole room 20 x 20 x 8 and that's the adult lizards home......

What if you have an enclosure that is not front opening? And you have to open it from the top and come in from the top? What should you do then?

So he’s not TOTALLY scared of me but halfway scared of me I guess lol. ONE day he climbed up my arm!! Only one day though ugh I don’t know what I was doing right that day lol

Do you have any advice for raising a wild caught water monitor? Ive had my little guy for almost a year now and hes still terrified of me. I have only just come across your videos and tips for a more minimalistic enclosure but im afraid that might shock my animal because he hasnt ever not had plenty of places to hide. Id love to hear from you.

Is there a video showing how you tame the NON- confident monitor baby? There’s got to be one here somewhere??. I only see the confident ones being handled which is great but I wanted to see one example if working with non confident. I’m still trying to find the right video for this, can someone help me find one? Thank you

I recently got a Peach throat monitor. I'm not sure the age but he/she's about a foot long and eating fuzzies every day or every other day. I guess my question is when you get them later on is the process of socializing the same?

you cant afford 100-150 bucks for a cb? if you can't afford a regular water monitor you will definitely not be able to afford to maintain the animal. The ones you see on this video are expensive because they are different morphs.

this is too late but for babies just reach in with your hand under and rub him for a few seconds and remove your hands. go in touch and go out. that way they learn you are no harm. if you go in with your hand over them and grab them they will definitely not learn well like that.

it seems people always say you have to give them tones of hides as baby's, but there is no hides here and they all seem to be doing just fine! is no hide the trick to making your monitor addapt to you?

I would also like to know if taking out the hide would help with my black throat monitor to socialize with me because when he isn't eating most of the time he is inside of his cave I have. It makes it difficult to see him and get him to come out to see me.

Very few folks have the room to raise up these reptiles. I love them, however not a reptile for most and should not be promoted as a pet for self prophet. I think with these lizards do to their intelligence, which is high for a reptile, getting them to their homes the earlier the better. They need to imprint on the owner. Sad, most folks will take these stick them in a tank, and when the novelty wears off, ends up being a neglected angry, aggressive formative reptile that can cause serious injury. Great reptile for experienced keepers that enjoy reptiles. If ya want a pet get a cat or dog. Reptiles have no loyalty or are capable of emotions. Straight up predator or pray, and just tolerate human interaction. Interact with them from babies in a positive manner will increase tolerance levels thus reducing chance of being bit, clawed, or tail whipped. Again, a challenging reptile for experienced keepers, and not recommended for most folks. Idiots buy these for their kids only to end up with heart ache. Nice work Kevin, you put your heart into these wonderful lizards that probably shouldn't be in the hands of many.

Ohhh we didn’t know that. Ok let’s get rid of all the reptiles y’all! We got new info here! Hey did you know wolves only came to cavemen back in the day because they got food??? Wow and now we have domesticated dogs. Hhhhmmmm. Nahhh they should have gotten rid of them too because they only needed something from humans back then. How dumb we were.
