This changed my life entirely. When I was asleep I accidentally drove to my nearest pet store and requested for all of their zebra finches. They asked me why and I responded with the word " Lasagna ". They were confused but nevertheless they got me all of the finches, they didn't care to take them out of their cage since it would be too much work to put them in all of those cardboard boxes. I didn't pay and left the store, next day I wondered why there was so much beeping sounds. I checked to see and it was all of the finches I bought. I am now an owner of about 200 finches, send help.

This isn't taming, this is more forced. sometimes when you do this the birds won't actively seek out your attention and your affection so it's not actually taming the bird. If you were scared of something wouldn't you do anything it says so it won't hurt you that's kind of what's going on here. Taking away its food and forcing it to use you isn't the way to do it.

You may have been successful, but you made many mistakes. That's why it took way too long. That's why your bird was so scared. I'll show you a better way. Never start taming in the cage! This is way too stressful for your little friend. Remove his food from the cage and starve him for an hour or two. Then you offer food outside of the cage. You only hold out the food in your hand for 10 seconds. In this short time, your bird can see the food, but it won't get on your hand just yet. After the 10 seconds, close your hand again and wait a while. Then offer the food again for 10 seconds. Your bird is not stupid! He learns very quickly that he only has 10 seconds to make a decision. If you keep offering the food constantly, your bird will play its own game. He will keep you waiting and this can take hours. If you only offer the food for 10 seconds at a time, then the bird has to make a choice. He'll get onto your hand a lot quicker because he knows you're about to close your hand again. So you're not playing his game, you're playing your own game. In no time your bird will be on your hand. Check out how I do it with my wild birds. I do it al little different as I discribed it here. It was the very first attempt on these special birds. kzbin.info/www/bejne/poiyfpKKbL2Mis0 For these birds I needed 2 minutes. They trusted me immediately. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqu0g3ala9B7bZI These birds also trusted me after a few seconds. These birds have never had human contact. I've meet them in the wilderness of Kruger Park. So it only took a few seconds. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ony3mWekeJ2ie68 Sorry for my English, I come from Germany.

I know this is an old video, but I really have to respond regardless. I really don't agree with starving birds to tame them. And certainly not in a video where inexperienced birdowners and children are taking your advice. I don't understand why you say also do this with budgies in the comments - if you show interest in your budgies and offer them treats on a daily basis (and not just the first couple of weeks) they will most often become tame. If you want to be sure buy a tame one. It is not that hard, but you have to be invested.

In winter it gets dark early and the finches cannot eat. Sunrise is late. So you have already your finches without food for 14 hours. Normally I dont want to disturb the sleep of my finches, except in winter. After 3 hours I switch on the light, finches awake, take some food and go to sleep again. 11 hours without food is better for them, they say.

Sorry if I'm blowing anyone's bubble, but this is not a very good way to train a finch. Maybe that works long term with a parrot, although I doubt it. A bird's cage is his/her safe place, and if you put your hand in there for any other reason than to change their water and feed them, they'll feel unsafe, and they'll end up developing behavioural problems, plus they'll try to escape it on any occasion, and once they're out, they won't want to come back. Just thought to leave it here for people who are new to this looking for advice on how to tame their finch.

finch forum sorry, man. But from this video, it just seemed like the bird was getting very stressed out, when you kept moving your hand at him. I'm speaking from experience with domestic and wild birds here. Most of the time, taming a bird in a manner that includes invading their personal space just ends in unwanted side effects. Unfortunetly, most your viewers will only watch this video and then do that with their bird, who doesn't have an aviary to live in, and will feel unsafe in their own home. I'm not hating on you or anything, just trying to help out.

Rosé Chun Chun talk to your bird when they're in the cage, and please don't put your hand inside it when they're in there, that'll just stress them out. The best way to get your bird to trust you is to set up a workspace where they have their food and you have your work. If you work on your own stuff, and let them hang out there in peace, they'll trust you much more. I put a tiny bowl of their seeds on my laptop when I'm watching movies in bed, and watch a movie with them. That seems go be the one most successful way that I've found so far, plus it's fun for both you and your bird.

Well ok thanks for the video and do you have a video like how to touch them when they are scared and make them trust us?
@finchforum64662 жыл бұрын
The bird which I tamed was a scared bird. The continues interaction with them will help to gain trust. Keep the cage your eye level.. (not above or below) and spend a lot of time with them and start taming. And if you need a complete tamed bird try to hand feed a chick. Here is the video which I tamed by hand feed. 1. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to stick your hand inside of a bird's cage, as it can seriously scare them and you'll lose their trust.
