An old boss of mine had a full keg of beer that he had been leaning against a shed in his yard for almost a decade. It was sitting out in the sun, and I convinced a buddy to try tapping it. It was really hot out so it had built up a lot of pressure. As soon as he tried it fired out a big spray of the most rancid slinky ass smelling beer I’ve ever smelled and he was covered. Couldn’t breathe I was laughing so hard

I used to install draft beer systems and have tapped thousands of kegs. Have you heard “draft beer gives me a headache” ? Thank your buddies who pumped the keg 40 times. Beer needs about 12psi of CO2 to prevent off gassing. The headache is from having 30 psi literally forcing more carbonation into the beer. Further, a party pump uses air not CO2 which is why it only lasts a day or so. Tapped with 12 lbs of CO2, it will last 45 days.

I remember back when me and my buddies bought a cage, first time ever buying one and we had no idea how to tap it💀 so we ended up taping it wrong and it was straight foam anytime we tried to pour some out in a cup. The only way to drink it without getting straight foam was to do cage stands, so we all just had to do cage stands all night😂

Are american kegs fully carbonated an pressurized? Here in nl it is not that convenient to use a keg at a house party because you will need a CO2 bottle too and all drafting systems come with a cooler, so they are a bit expensive and bulky.

When my husband was in college he and 4 other guys rented a house from a lady. Who lived next door. She had a pony keg in her kitchen and every month they fought over who got to take their checks over to her because she always wanted them to have a beer with her. They said the local liquor store brought her a new pony keg every Thursday. They were in a small town and it was a small college. You might want to consider a half keg or a pony keg to keep your beer at peak freshness. Here the local breweries sell "growlers". A bit over 5 bottles of beer. You buy the container once and then they refill it. Very popular with craft beer breweries.

As a guess, it's a pump that pumps in air, when I got a keg when I was younger, it came with a bottle of C02 compressed gas.. Perhaps the Air makes it go off and C02 (carbon dioxide gas) keeps it fresh? As I said just a guess..
